Favorite Souvenirs (What do you love to buy from Disney?)

As many of you know, John and I will be leaving soon to go on our NYE Disney trip. I was just wondering if there are any particular items that you all love buying from Disney (you know, that you can't get ANYWHERE else). Is there anything that you hold dear from any past Disney trips? Did you ever regret purchasing something, and if so, what did you purchase? Are there any particular shops that you know you CANNOT miss going into, if yes why do always plan on going to them? Is there something that you saw in a shop that you wish you bought and didn't, if so, what and where was it? I'm just trying to get some ideas!

My personal favorite purchases were:

An autograph book (I was 7 yrs old then!)
A Mickey T-shirt (very vintage, I eventually had to get rid of it I wore it so much, lol)
The big Disney suckers (I HAVE to have one of these, especially in MK)
3-4 Disney mugs (use them every morning)

I'm sure there's more, I just can't remember them. I can't wait to see what ideas this thread generates!

Re: Favorite Souvenirs (What do you love to buy from Disney?)

I really enjoyed buying pins this last trip - it was so much fun choosing them!

Normally, I always return with a coffee mug and this next trip I want to get some of the great wooden frames with Disney phrases etched into them.

New Years Eve at WDW should be wonderful- have a great time!

Re: Favorite Souvenirs (What do you love to buy from Disney?)

I collect Eeyore beanies, so those are a must for me and we've collected a lot of Christmas disc ornaments now to hang on the tree - which looks wonderful now. Last time, we collected some pins and also started to buy CD's of the parade, which proved to be a good buy and a great way of reminding us of our time at Disney. We always buy sweatshirts and T-shirts, as we can't get any decent adult clothing at the DS over here and this time, as we've now got a DVD player, we'll probably buy a DVD or two.

My advice would be to buy anything you see WHEN you see it. That's our only regret - we had a couple of occasions when we saw something and thought about getting it, then looked in other shops and couldn't find it. When we went back to the original shop, they then didn't have it in the right size.

I think the must-do shop this time will be World of Disney at DD. As AP holders, we'll get 10% off, so we need to do some serious shopping there! We also love the Christmas shop at DD.

Re: Favorite Souvenirs (What do you love to buy from Disney?)

Jenny,

We'll be there too! I can't wait. I'm so excited to ring in the new year at WDW.

When we're in Disney my must purchases are Tinkerbell pins and a new piece of Disney art from World of Disney - we usually come home with a sculpture or a new piece of art. A stop at the Christmas shoppe for an ornament or two, the Home store to pick up a few items for my Mikey bathroom and a new sweatshirt are always a must. The sweatshirt is great because I put it on and it's like a little bit of Disney when I wear it.

Maybe we'll bump into each other!

Re: Favorite Souvenirs (What do you love to buy from Disney?)

My favorite thing that I have ever purchased at Disney is my "Princess Bank"! All my loose change goes into it and I always use the change as "play money" on my next trip. I also like to pick up a photo album with the year written on it so I can put all the trip photos in it. And, DH and I always buy an ornament at every trip destination; so, a Disney one is a must. Have a great trip.

Re: Favorite Souvenirs (What do you love to buy from Disney?)

Must buys for our family:

1. WDW Photo Album. I'm a scrapbooker so last time I bought a magnetic album, took all those awful magnetic pages out and then used my own page protectors for layouts (I scrap 8.5x11 and this worked pretty good). This trip I may also buy a regular photo album with the slots to hold pics as I'm horribly behind scrapping and may not get around to doing layouts for quite awhile.
2. Disney license plate. Ours still says 2000. It's sad.
3. Minnie beanies. My middle dd has a collection and we always have to pick up the new ones.
4. Antenna toppers. I'm addicted to decorating my homely van.
5. For myself on this upcoming trip, I'm dying for a WDW tote bag. I'll be spending my summer running kids to the pool and grandma's and every where else and I'd love to do it with a touch of the Disney magic.
6. T-shirts. Every trip we come back with 3-4 new t-shirts for everyone in the family. We're going to try to stick with just 2 new shirts this trip. We'll all get matching shirts (last time we did the 2000 shirts -- red for girls, blue for boys) and then we can each choose one shirt.

I have a sneaking suspicion that my son will become a pin collector on this trip. He bought 1 on our last day of our last trip and is already talking about it for this trip. My kids use their own money from Christmas and Birthdays for souvenirs so if that's how he wants to spend his money, more power to him.

Christmas ornaments are my fav - from the resort, from each park, dated ones, and those that just ones that look cool. We come away every year with at least 5 or so. Really fun to remember each trip when you are trimming the tree.

Re: Favorite Souvenirs (What do you love to buy from Disney?)

I always come home with a fridge magnet and coffee mug from any vacation. This year I'm on a mission for some special christmas ornaments from Disney. Last trip my DH snuck into the glass place in San Angel Inn (forget the name...Arabis?) and bought me an ornament and gave it to me for Christmas. I loved it! If you just knew my husband you'd know that was really SOMETHING for him to do!! lol

We always let our daughter pick one or two of the die-cast ride cars every trip. She loves to play with them when she gets home and pretends she is on whichever ride.

One of my favorite places to shop is the shops outside of Chef Mickey's at the Contemporary! I love so much of what they have there!!! If you've never been, check it out!

Re: Favorite Souvenirs (What do you love to buy from Disney?)

Everything! I love to buy everything. It's one of my favorite things to do at Disney...I take trips to Florida and only go to DTD. Ok, now that you think I'm pathetic..

I have a Disney bathroom and Disney kitchen, so I am always looking for things for those, then it's pins for my son and scrapbook stuff! I also have to have a new calendar each year and CD's! This list could go on forever...

This year we bought the monorail and a the Spaceship Earth to go with it..I Love Them!

Re: Favorite Souvenirs (What do you love to buy from Disney?)

I always buy photo albums and picture frames to put my photos in. I love the snow globes as well. I also like to get at least one T-shirt from each trip. One year I bought a Lilo and Stitch siracell, a splurge, but it is hanging in my living room and I love looking at it! I also love my paintings of the GF and Poly. These are surprisingly affordable, too. ($20-30 unframed, more if you but them framed). Other good sovenirs are pens and pencils and key chains. I like the Disney bath stuff from the Disney at Home store, too. Disney bath towels and soap dishes! Since you are going around the holdiays, a visit to the Dsney Christmas store is also in order. I also have the monorail and the accessory buildings. I betcha can't tell that I love to shop, LOL!

Have fun. We will be there the same time as you! Our trip is Dec. 22 - Jan. 4. Maybe we will see you there.
