| Fund Raising for your WDW trip.. I thought this might be helpful for folks...
What do you do to help raise funds for your WDW vacation?
I have done E Bay, garage sales and the change jar.. and surprisingly I got almost $50 in that change jar by the time we left in March- pretty good since we started it in late January! |

| Re: Fund Raising for your WDW trip.. change jar. we've probably managed about 500 in change since we started in january. helps to have toonies and loonies going in tho lol. also, i have a set amount for groceries and if i get under that amount i convert the rest to US and put it right in my bank account. Its surprising how much less i buy now roflmao (don't tell the dh tho he may cut me back ) i tried ebay and it just didn't work for me. anyway, thats what i try.
edited to add: i'm a sahm but was thinking of getting myself a part time job in order to get some money. both kids are in school - 1 full day and the other in half day- so i think it might be an idea to research further |

| Re: Fund Raising for your WDW trip.. Almost the same... Ebay & change jar. No garage sales - If I can't unload it on Ebay, it's off to charity!
One thing I do is "pay myself first". I put anywhere from $10 - $25 per paycheck into my Disney Fund. It's there if emergencies arise (and sometimes they do) but if not, it's fun money. |

| Re: Fund Raising for your WDW trip.. We do the change jar. We started saving change when we returned from our last trip to DW in June 2001. We aren't very diligent about it, but at last count (2 months ago) we had over $400 in change. Since we just moved into a new house (with a stone driveway ) about 6 months ago, we did a "clean sweep" of our junk and have a huge pile of things to sell at a yard sale in May (an even bigger pile went in the garbage. Items left after the yard sale will go to charity.) and we have several items to put up on E-bay. It's amazing how all the "little" things add up both in spending and saving. |

| Re: Fund Raising for your WDW trip.. Our change jar paid for our TTC. DH sold a big piece of equipment on eBay, and we got some money from the wedding.
Next year, I'm just hoping to be better employed. *fingers crossed* |

| Re: Fund Raising for your WDW trip.. Change jars, ebay, garage sales. They work the best for me, especially ebay. People will buy anything! LOL I also do mypoints so I pay for a meal or two with gift certificates I've earned from doing that.

| Re: Fund Raising for your WDW trip.. When we first started planning, 2 years out, I informed my family that the kids were to only get disney dollars for gifts. They have amassed more than a hundred dollars each. (We will be there for 2 weeks). They do Kidseyes and have earned almost 75.00 each for that. I do my points for the Rainforest Cafe's gc's and by the time we go, I should have enought for (3) 25.00 ones. And, we do a change jar. I will NOT use spare change for anything. If something comes to 25.01 I give the person 26.00 and the change goes in the jar. All the bottles we return for refund also go in this jar. Every month, I turn in the jar at the disney store for Disney dollars. Every paycheck, a certain amnt is deposited automatically into the Mickey savings account. Thats all we do. Plus all the tax refund $. |

| Re: Fund Raising for your WDW trip.. I forgot something else I do. When I write a check for something I'll log the exact amount of the check but when I write it on the ledger, I always round it up to the next dollar. So for instance, if I write a check for $15.11 I'll write that amount in the "debit" column so I have an accurate record of the check amount but when I move to the right and subtract it from the balance column I'll write $16.00. And I do the opposite for deposits...round down to the next dollar. I have over $200 "saved" in my checking account by doing this over the last few months. I realize that this won't work for people who like to keep their checking accounts balanced to the penny, but for those of us who can live with somewhat relaxed financial records, it works great. |

| Re: Fund Raising for your WDW trip.. I have a seperate savings account set up just for vacations. I am a big coupon and rebate user. Whenever I grocery shop, or go to CVS or another store, I write down the amount I save with store sales, my club cards and coupons. If I buy an item (like a pair of jeans) on sale, the difference gets written down. If we go out to dinner and we use a coupon (like a $3.00 off coupon at Olive Garden) then that amount gets written down. At the end of each month, I total up the savings and write a check from our checking account right into that savings account. Any rebate checks go in there, too. Also, the change jar fund.
I have saved a significant amount of money over the years this way! |

| Re: Fund Raising for your WDW trip.. Both me and DW work full time and are paydays are both every two weeks but on different weeks. So every payday we set aside $50 bucks which works out to about $2600 a year into out vacation fund. I also sell stuff on eBay and save any "unexpected" monies like my company’s quarterly safety bonus, refunds/rebates, and this year, our tax refund paid for a lot. My change jar never seems to build up; I dump my change in and it just seems to disappear. I'm already looking forward to another good tax refund next year! |
