When is Disney decorated for Christmas?

My family & I would love to go and see Disney at Christmas Time but don't want the hussle and bussle to go during Christmas itself. We thought about a long weekend at the beginning of December. Is it decorated by that point? TIA!

Yes, it's all pretty much up by Thanksgiving. In fact, the decorations start going up in about the second week of November. The beginning of December is meant to be a lovely time to go to Disney - not only is it all decorated, but it's supposed to be a very quiet time of the year as well.

Re: When is Disney decorated for Christmas?

We went the second year of December last year and it was wonderful. Practically everything was a walk on and the mood in the parks was so festive. You will love a trip planned for this time of year. Make sure you don't miss MVMCP. I loved seeing snow on Main Street and Cinderella's castle all decorated. The Christmas parades were great too. I just loved Disney and the Holidays mixed!!!

Re: When is Disney decorated for Christmas?

Definitely. It will be beautiful!
Last year we went for the first time for a few days after Christmaas. It was fun! Sure, there was a crowd but believe it or not, it was not unmanageable. I believe it is your personal approach. We laid back and did what we wanted. We didn't plan on doing everything. I remember standing at EPCOT drinking hot chocolate watching Illuminations. It was priceless.

This year we're going back the same time plus we're stopping in November 30th for MVMCP. This will be our first time for that. I can't wait! If you go early December, you should try to do that. I can't wait to see it snow on Main Street!

Most definitely - that is a terrific time to go!

We went Thanksgiving thru Dec. 6 and it was beautiful! (though it was a might bit chilly!) They begin the transformation right after Halloween and it's pretty much done by Thanksgiving.

You can do Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party, Candlelight Processional and spend lots of time just admiring the beautifully themed trees at each park and resort.

Re: When is Disney decorated for Christmas?

We went the 1st week of December (4-11th) 2002 and we only had one day in the 50s. The rest of the time, we even went in the pools!! (Just remember to bring a warm cover up to get from the pool to the room!)

MVMCP is fantastic - they make it seem like it's snowing on Main Street. The pins for the event are unique and quite collectible.

Have a great time
Eileen

Re: When is Disney decorated for Christmas?

We arrived on November 12th last year and they were unloading all of the decorations at the Wilderness Lodge. By the next day, almost everything was up and it was absolutely beautiful!!!! It was amazing how they unloaded it all and had it done by the next morning. We couldn't believe our good fortune of being there several weeks before Christmas and still being able to enjoy the decorations.

I'll be leaving WL on the 13th. Maybe, just maybe they will be up on the morning we leave...I'll be keeping my fingers crossed...better yet, will need some pixie dust for this one!
