Re: Photo Ops?

Our extended family took 6 digital cameras and took about 500 pictures. My favorite photo op was Land of the Sea. It's my signature picture ('sea' below!)

Re: Photo Ops?

Ooooooh, and don't forget taking a pic of your child eating one of those mammoth turkey legs! My son still cracks up when he sees the picture of himself from 2003 (we actually shared it, but it was fun getting a pic of him trying to eat it), and he instantly salivates.

If the steamroller is still there at MGM, I definitely second that idea!
- In front of your resort/hotel upon arrival and in front of your room. (I do a lot of scrapbooking, so some of the little things like this are neat to document. Signage is great for scrapping!)
- In or next to the Tree of Life, next to their favorite animal...if they can find it.
- Buying their favorite souvenir - my 9yo loves collecting pins and I have a pic of him buying his very first pin.

I love everyone's ideas! I'm taking notes for March!

Re: Photo Ops?

Okay - the obsessive/compulsive in me had to organize these great suggestions for our next trip.

General
----------
Pick a spot (doesn’t matter where) and take a picture of your kids in that same spot every year.

Anyplace that will put the globe (Spaceship Earth) at Epcot or Cindy's castle (MK) in the background! (also the Tree of Life at AK and the hat at MGM)

My favorite op is in a gift shop wearing silly hats.

Have your family wear the 3-D glasses from all the 3-D attractions (HISTK, ITTBAB, MPhM, M3-D, etc.)

Also, in rides where they don't tell you flash photography is not permitted, we like to have the smaller kids in the party sit behind us-- that way we can turn around and get great shots of them enjoying the rides! (SE, JIYI)

The topiaries of the characters – they move around so much that they’ll be in different spots on different trips!

Someone eating a turkey leg or Mickey bar or dole whip or…. (You get the idea)

Of your room just before you bring in your luggage (when it still look pristine!) – also, get a shot of everyone in front of your room door (with the number visible). It helps me to remember exactly where we stayed.

With great cast members (it makes their day to be asked!)

Any rainbows you see.

Magic Kingdom
----------------------
Standing at the rail of the MK ferryboat as it's crossing the Seven Seas Lagoon can put either the castle or the Contemporary in the background. Time it right and get a shot of another ferryboat passing by, too.

Another one is as you are getting off the bus to enter MK. Around sunset you can get some great scenery shots, and they can look totally different in a matter of 5 minutes.

Also across the lagoon as you're getting off the bus there is an island with palm trees that is a great show as the sun sets.

On Main Street there is a bench with a statue of Roy O. Disney and Minnie Mouse. Sit on the bench with them for a nice shot.

Sitting with Goofy on that bench just inside of MK... on the right going in, in front Exposition Hall.

There's also "Goofy's Pose-o-matic" on the porch of Exposition Hall near the entrance of the MK.

On the MK train station platform with the castle in the background - this is the platform opposite the train tracks, that overlooks the flag and the view down Main street

The front of the railroad as the sun sets, as well as the castle, and Main Street.

The Partners statue in front of the castle is the best spot for a pic, but it's always crowded. For fun, have your kids pose like Walt and Mickey.

Best *Wishes* shot is from dead center on the castle when the big golden plumes cross behind it. (I know -- first you have to snag the perfect spot and then you have to time it perfectly -- but some people on this board have done it to great effect!)

The Castle
------------
The bridge from the hub to Liberty Square is the best place to get a castle pic with the castle reflecting in the water below.

On the bridge from Tomorrowland with the Castle in the background - we lucked out one night and there was a gorgeous sunset behind the castle.

Turn right at the back of the castle (below Cinderella’s Royal Table) and take the walkway towards Cosmic Rays - on your right will be Cinderella’s wishing well.

Fantasyland
--------------
There’s a Minnie statuette in a fairy tale “princess” costume inside Sir Mickey’s (near Snow White’s Scary Adventures).

Having hubby or the kids try to pull out the sword from the stone in MK (Fantasyland)

Right as you go over the boat in Peter Pan's Flight.

Tomorrowland
----------------
Hop into Zurg's jail cell after the Buzz ride!

The racecar or spaceship or Pleakly statue in Tomorrowland.

The castle as you turn around one of the first bends on TTA.

Liberty Square
-----------------
In front of Bluebeard's tombstone outside of the Haunted Mansion in MK (don’t forget Madame Leota’s tombstone in the entryway to HM.)

With people standing in the stocks (across from the Liberty Tree Tavern)

Beside the Liberty Bell (outside the LTT)

Frontierland
-------------
In front of Splash Mountain - if you time it right, you can set your family up to get sprayed!!

Playing checkers near the shooting arcade.

Sitting in one of the rocking chairs on the dock at Aunt Polly’s (Tom Sawyer’s Island)

Toontown
-----------
Toontown has tons of great spots with lots of props - Pete's Garage, Mickey and Minnie's houses (I love sitting on her couch for pics!)

Epcot
--------
Everybody likes to take a pic in front of the fountain at the entrance plaza with Spaceship Earth in the background. Try kneeling to get all of SE in the shot.

We like to stand across the lagoon from SE and get a picture of someone "holding" SE.

The walkway from Future World to World Showcase is another great spot for a shot with SE in the background. Time it so that a monorail is passing above for added interest.

In front of Mission: Space ,you can get a pic of the family leaning on the Moon. (Frame it right to get someone “holding” one of the planets!)

In front of the Living Seas, get a shot of everyone 'swimming' with the Dory and Marlin statues. (By the outdoor Nemo exhibit near the Living Seas.)

In front of Imagination, try to get a shot of the kids reaching for the water blasts from the dancing fountains.

Canada has a spectacular waterfall with a walking path beside it that makes for a beautiful shot. (there are also totem poles with cut outs for your face - on the walkway in front of Canada)

Norway has a Viking ship outside that makes for a great background. There is also a giant troll inside who is a nice addition to family portraits; rub his nose for luck.

In Italy with one of the living statues

At Epcot, you have to try to get someone to drink Beverly - and catch a picture!

With the Fountain of Nations doing its thing behind you.

With the bellydancer in Morroco's sit-down restaurant.

MGM
--------
“Under” the AT-AT’s raised foot at Star Tours. (You used to be able to get underneath it, but now they guard it so you have to frame it “just so” to make it look like you’re underneath it

Frame a person with the giant sorcerer’s hat behind them so it looks like they’re wearing it. (Get close to their face so the scale is better)

In the car outside the Sci-Fi Dine In.

All over the place at the Honey I Shrunk the Kids playground.

Under the steamroller - if it's still there ... I think that area of the Catering Company is being rehabbed.

Just as you enter the RNRC (about the 60 minute wait point) you can get a great shot of ToT.

Animal Kingdom
-----------------------
Try to find DeVine or Wes Palm.

There's a courtyard of dinosaurs between Restaurantosoraus and DINOSAUR. There are cute opportunities for kids to climb and drape themselves over the critters.

Playing the drums in the courtyard near the safari entrance

After people get off of Kali River Rapids and they’re soaked. (Also good is to get a view of people being sprayed by the elephants from the bridge near the end of the ride.)

Downtown Disney
-------------------------
There is a scene outside the Christmas shop that has statues of the characters that is neat.

There is also a statue of Minnie and Mickey in the pin shop (I think)

The Lego statues outside make good picture spots too.

Outside the Winnie the Pooh shop is a grouping of characters on a log that makes a good posing spot.

In Disney Tails, there is a Dalmatian statuette that is kid-sized and photographs well.

Other places
-----------------
Getting the window seat on the airplane and taking shots looking out the window.

Santa's sleigh at the WinterSummerland mini golf. It drives people insane to open a Christmas card and see a picture of your family on a bright sunny day in shorts & tshirts when they are freezing during winter

All of the All-Star resorts and Pop Century have great icons/props to pose near (giant toys, characters, letters, etc.)

Anywhere in Andy's Room (one of our favs!) **That's in the Toy Story bldgs. of ASMO Or check out RC just outside of Andy's Room!

At the airport - the big 3d wall for Disney store and Mickey is holding out his arm-I always make it look like his arm is sorta around me and its so much fun and truly lets me know Im "home"

Any other spots to add?!

Re: Photo Ops?

Across from Star Tours is a full-size speeder bike that you can pose on.
http://www.dotphoto.com/Go.asp?l=wga...624698&T=1

And leaning on the AT-AT can be fun, too.
http://www.dotphoto.com/Go.asp?l=wga...624469&T=1

Wearing the BAH always looks funny.
http://www.dotphoto.com/Go.asp?l=wga...675686&T=1

Pose with the totem pole outside the gift shop at Wilderness Lodge.
http://www.dotphoto.com/Go.asp?l=wga...366443&T=1

Me with Roy and Minnie.
http://www.dotphoto.com/Go.asp?l=wga...366876&T=1

Any time you pass a topiary (like the dancing brooms in MGM or the giant Mickey on the path from the marina to Contemporary), match the topiary's pose. Or for more interest, arrange yourself to look like you're holding hands with it.
(My photographer failed to line me up properly in this one)
http://www.dotphoto.com/Go.asp?l=wga...366097&T=1

But I lined up my friend Teri prety well for this one.
http://www.dotphoto.com/Go.asp?l=wga...248542&T=1

Outside of WDW, at the Belz Mall, there is a Universal outlet with a statue of Rocky.

Re: Photo Ops?

I don't know if anyone else mentioned this but their is a mural of many of the Disney characters in Town Square Exposition Hall (to your right as you walk under the railroad station). The mural is way in the back of the building. Walk into the building and go down the right hand side hallway...all the way down. It is must see and a great photo op!

Re: Photo Ops?

Here's a place you might want to try. I'm not exactly sure the name of this place, but right before you get to the castle in the hub turn right and there to the left is a little area where they have tables and chairs. Here is a picture of my DD from last year. I love this picture!

Re: Photo Ops?

One of my favorite pictures is of me sitting on the ground on Main Street with the Castle in the background. It was before the park opened. No one else was around so it wsa just me and the Castle. We had gotten in early for breakfast reservations.

Re: Photo Ops?

I have a scrapbook page with my kids in hats from the Chapeau on Main Street. And one of my all time favorite shots is a picture of my husband and youngest son inside Buzz Lightyear. They turned there vehicle around to face me and pretended to shoot at me! I love it but I'd do it at the beginning of the ride so you don't get busted!

Re: Photo Ops?

I remember my father took a picture of a friend of mine in front of Small World early in the morning when there weren't very many people. Her mom was so happy with the picture. After all of these years I still remember how she raved about it and commented there weren't people in the background and how great it was! Sadly, I don't remember the friend but I think it was my neighbor across the street. That would make sense because a foursome always does better at DL than a threesome (me and my parents).

Re: Photo Ops?

Pick your favorite theme, or go to all 3 All-Stars Resorts, as well as Pop Century and spend some time walking all around each resort checking out all the great oversized props. We're going to ASMovies so my son can see Toy Story. This works great as a first day at Disney thing to do after you check in your resort - just hop the first bus that comes by your resort and transfer at that park to the resort bus of your choice.

Other resorts have places, too (the big mouse ears behind Contemporary, and the statue in their lobby at check-in) - but these work best for kids.

I also like the snowman outside the Christmas shop at the Studios.

If you drive to Disney on I-75, stop at the Disney Travel Center in Ocala. There are large Mickey and Minnie figures out front, plus cute things inside to pose with too. This stop works well to build the suspense - only 1 1/2 hours to WDW!
