Re: T-shirt designs for our trip...........

I know this sounds dumb but here goes. Do you just print these designs on t-shirt transfer paper and add them too your shirt? Do I have your permission to use them?

It's not dumb - don't worry!!

Yes, all you have to do is print out the image onto T-Shirt Transfer paper. Make sure that you have your printer set at your best printing level and make sure that you are printing the image "mirror imaged" (or reversed, same thing). All these images are out in the public domain, and every site that I've gotten them from says they are free for all to use. So go make t-shirts to your hearts delight.

Of course, be careful for the addiction!!
I've made SO many shirts now that DH is getting a wee bit irritated they won't all fit in the suitcases.
(And, I'm not done yet, either!! )

Very shirts! I can see why you're addicted!

How well do the pictures hold up? I've never made any homemade t-shirts with computer images.

All the images that are on the links I've listed earlier are really high quality.
I haven't had any problems with ANY of the images I've used on our shirts; I've even enlarged some of the images and the resolution stays great.

Have fun!!!

Those are really cool!
And I had the same "dumb" question as alismom, so I'm glad she asked you answered. I could see it becoming addictive!

I simply used my Paint program to erase and fill in, and then personalized them for us.

O.K., for me this isn't simple. What's a paint program and does it come pretty much standard or did you install the program? I love the star wars shirt and would like to make myself a personalized one! (Notice my avatar, I lifted your idea, minus your name of course. )

Paint is a program that came pre-installed within my Windows XP.
I just made you a "Michelle" and PM'd it to you.

Re: T-shirt designs for our trip...........

Here's a few things that I'm getting asked a lot:

1. Make sure that you wash your t-shirts WITHOUT fabric softener or dryer sheets; this will interfere with how your transfer reacts to your shirt. It may look alright now, but it could start cracking or disintegrating in the wash.

2. I use Avery t-shirt transfer paper (white or light colored);it works best on WHITE t-shirts, although I've successfully used cream, lite blue, and bright green.

3. I use my HP 7210 to print out all my images. Print out using your best quality, and make sure that you print it mirror imaged (or reversed).

4. I am more than happy to help answer any questions that I can, but please understand that I am still learning. I'm also more than happy to help personalize any of the images that I can. Some are too complicated to erase some of the text embedded on fancy graphics, but I'm hoping to learn how to change them in time.

I'm not sure if you should avoid fabric softener/dryer sheets each time you wash your shirts, so I recommend you just avoid them.

[/ QUOTE ]

I believe they mean just to not use the fabric softener or sheets when you first wash the shirt; it will leave a residue that interferes with the printing process. You can use fabric sheets after you have made your t-shirt.

Re: T-shirt designs for our trip...........

That's correct. Just don't wash the shirts using fabric softener before doing the transfer.

If you're applying the transfer to a shirt you've owned for a while and have used fabric softener on it in the past, just wash it once or twice without fabric softener before doing the transfer.

And that also means dryer sheets!
