Richard Petty - who\'s done it or considered it? Hi there! I was just being good and walking the treadmill, and I thought why not watch one of my taped WDW travel channel specials while I do. So I'm watching WDW Undiscovered, and they show the RP Driving Experience. I've heard of it, but never really thought about it. We're going in Sept/Oct 2007, and DH turns 40 in March 2008. So the wheels (pardon the pun!) start turning, and I think, hmmm, maybe an early b'day present?! DH is not a NASCAR fan, however he is your typical man who likes nice cars, and has fun playing racing games on his XBOX. Not to mention his 1st car was a classic Ford Mustang, and he drove PCH too fast once or twice as a teen (sans alcohol like Mel). So there's the background, now what can you tell me about the RPDE? Who's done it, watched, etc. I'm thinking that the 8 lap ride would be expensive enough at $400 and change, but the $700 ride gives you more. I'd just have to save about $15/wk for the next year to afford it!!

Re: Richard Petty - who\'s done it or considered it? We gave the RP Driving experience to my dad for Christmas one year (although his was at Charlotte, not WDW). He LOVED it. We still talk about it. I think it is an amazing opportunity!!! Go for it!

Re: Richard Petty - who\'s done it or considered it? My DH has not done Richard Petty but he has done similar experiences at both Pocono and Dover. Of course, now he wants to do RP as well. So, does that tell you anything? He LOVES it. He was never a big NASCAR fan but is a fan of fast driving and has the driving record to prove it! If you are an American Express holder you can use your points towards the experience. Also, if you are a AAA member you can get a discount.

Re: Richard Petty - who\'s done it or considered it? DH did the ride along last year and is now dying to the driving! He sounds like your DH...not a NASCAR fan, but loves racing on his Xbox. He said the ride along was a tease. I bought the ride along with AmEx points and am hoping to do the same with the experience. I'm trying to rack up my points!

We used to have the Blue card, and got points for that, but I don't think we have very many or even if they're still worth anything. But we do have AAA. Do you know if the AAA website has the discount listed? I'll have to check, b/c at that price I need all the help I can get!! |

Re: Richard Petty - who\'s done it or considered it? We've done it here in Charlotte. We gave the 8 lap driving experience to my FIL for his birthday last year and I got to do a ride along. I absolutely loved it! My FIL is the pessimistic type and was all nervous and didn't go nearly as fast as he could have... shame shame
