| Am I a Horrible Parent? For not ordering a birthday cake for ds who will turn 2yo while we are at WDW in December? We have FOUR character meals planned for the 9 days we are there, including Crystal Palace on his bday. I've been figuring that the cupcake they give is more than enough to "celebrate." Especially since he's only 2yo. Am I a horrible parent for depriving him of bday cake?

| I don't think so! I wouldn't order one, especially since you are already doing a character meal. I am sure he will be thrilled with a cupcake! (and won't even know there was another option! ) ![]() |

| I think the memories that will be created for his birthday at WDW will far outweigh the cake that won't be ordered.. I would do the same as you.

| I agree at 2 yo I don't think he will know the difference between a cupcake and a regular cake. As much food as you will have at CP a cupcake will be way more then enough!

| BAD, BAD, BAD ![]() Seriously though , you're not being a bad parent. I did that when my DD was younger even here at home. I would get a small pack of cupcakes from the store and put candles in hers. She was younger so she didn't know the difference and (just look at our sig pic) the rest of us didn't need a big cake. Besides, if you look at it from the pratical side, unless you plan on leaving the park after you eat, about the only thing you can do is throw out any remaining cake and that would be a big waste, especially of your money. With tax and tip, the small cake (which was not even personalized) I got for my DH at Disney last year was like 15 or 16. For your 2 year old, I would do the cupcake and save the 15 or so and buy him a souvenir that he'll remember (and probably keep) for a lot longer.BTW - just found this info in another thread - might help you out Quote:

| Cake size is all relative. He is turning 2 not 21! You ARE taking him to disney- think of all the memories you have of turning 2 - i can't remember much B4 I was 3yrs except what photos I've seen and stories told by my folks. You are a wonderful mother for caring. Have a great trip.

| No you are not horrible. Last year we took our DD to WDW for her birthday, we ate at 1900 Park Fare dinner on her B-day, she did not ask for a cake. She turned 6 and just loved the cupcake, she said it was just hers. |

| yes, you're the worst parent ever...and if you believe that I've got a nice bridge to sell you! ![]() NO, you're an awesome parent!!! You're taking your 2 year old to WDW for his b'day, and he's getting a cupcake from Winnie and friends at CP (my favorite WDW restaurant)!!! You ROCK as a parent, so give yourself a pat on the back, not a smack!!
