Help with 16th birthday ideas

I will be taking my daughter to Disney for her 16th birthday and staying (this time) at the Coronado Springs. Any awesome suggestions to make this amore memorable trip than the many we have had in the past?

Welcome to the boards! What kinds of things does your daughter enjoy? Maybe a special dinner or a trip to the spa for manicures and pedicures? Make sure that you stop by Guest Relations to pick up a birthday button and mention on all of your dining reservations that you will be celebrating your daughter's birthday. Happy planning!

This might be a shot in the dark, but what about tandem parasailing? Last year my DS was 16 and we gave him the Richard Petty race car drive along as a gift. He absolutely loved it and his 16 year old friends thaought that it was very cool! I don't think that many girls around here are into racecars, but I know that some adventure-loving teenage girls in the neighborhood would love to parasail. (My DD10 can't wait untill she is old enough to do this.) Maybe you could do it together and create an awesome memory?

Does your DD like Cinderella. When my DD turned 15 at WDW, I surprised her with an appointment at Bippiddi Boppiddi Boutique. She loved it. She got the princess style with a crown. She looked beautiful. Then we all dressed up and went to dinner at 1900 Park Faire with Cinderella and Prince Charming. You are never too old to feel like a princess. The funny thing about my DD is that growing up she was never a princess kind of girl. Pooh was always her favorite. Once she hit the teen years she became a fan of the princesses.
We also let her pick which park she would to visit on her birthday and enjoy all of her favorite rides.

At 16, she's old enough for some of the tours. My DD loved both the Segway tour of the World Showcase in Epcot and the Keys to the Kingdom tour in Magic Kingdom.

Thank you for all the wonderful ideas. I am thrilled to be a part of this community and able to get ideas and communicate with a group of people who love Disney as much as me. If there are any other ideas you think of, I am always ready to hear them. Happy travels to you all.

Take her to the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique. My teen loved it-I had it done as a surprise.

When I was 16 I would have a loved to have been able to swim/dive at the living seas.
The ones I know about are Dolphins in Depth, Seas Aqua Tour, and Epcot Dive Quest.
Hope she has a magical birthday!

I would go with a spa package! Go for the one at Saratoga Springs as that one is owned by Disney and I alwys think it is a bit nicer than the one at the GF. My DD LOVED it!

I think all the above mentioned ideas are great...It would all depend on what she likes to do....

I think a nice spa day....ending with a signature or special meal of her choice would be great, maybe a fireworks cruise?

I asked the exact same question a few months back and got all kinds of wonderful ideas here. We will be taking my Stepdaughter to WDW over her 16th birthday. We've decided to surprise her with a Segway Tour in EPCOT World Showcase for just her and her Dad. The minimum age to do this is 16, so it should make it that much more exciting for her. She is one of the youngest in her class and most of the other kids will already be driving by the time she turns 16, so we wanted something a little different that she could tell her friends about when she got home.

She is too active to enjoy a spa visit when there are all kinds of Disney attractions to be hitting and she is too self conscious to like being in BBB with a bunch of little kids. The diving in the Living Seas is out because she isn't a diver, but we are eating at the Coral Reef and hopefully getting a diver to hold up a sign for her.

I would make sure that no matter what you choose to do, let everyone know that it is her birthday. Mention it on your reservation at the resport, at any ADRs you have that day, and have her wear a birthday button. It makes it so much easier for the magic to happen when CMs know.

I can't wait until DSD's birthday!

Just so you know it's not all little girls being done at BBB. In addition to my DD being done I also had my son get the "cool dude" package as well. I asked the FGMiT if she had very many older girls/guys getting done and she said that alot of families get done together, and that the day prior she had done an entire family-mom, dad, two girls and one boy.

I just may treat myself to BBB someday. Don't underestimate it or think it's full of little princesses only.....quite the contrary.

I am looking forward to doing a cool tour with my dd when we celebrate her 16th birthday at WDW (probably the Segway) but that is a few years away. We are celebrating her 13th birthday this coming June and I let her pick the character meals for her birthday (this is a blast as the characters really make a big deal about your birthday-just check out my signature picture from the day I turned 40). Also we are going to Epcot on her birthday and we are buying a passport and going to all the kidcot stops in all the countries and the cm's will write a birthday greeting in the passport to you (they did it for me in April and it was a blast). One other thing we are doing that she doesn't know about is I'm going to go to one of the pick a pearl places (there is one in Japan in Epcot and one at DTD) and we are going to pick oysters and get pearls and have a piece of jewelry made. Pearl is the birthstone for June so it works out perfectly.

Like others have said, it really depends what she likes.
Look at allearsnet.com and wdwinfo.com and search on 'birthday'.
Seems like many place great interest in the Princess character meals (we have only princes). Some like the non-princess characters like Tinkerbell.
