Question Seeking suggestions for 16th birthday

We'll be celebrating our son's 16th birthday during our trip and were thinking of the Sci-Fi Dine in since you dine in cars and he'll be able to get his driving permit. I heard everyone is facing the screen. Is it worth ordering a cake there or do they have cupcakes? Has anyone ever celebrated a birthday there?
Any suggestions?

I haven't celebrated a birthday there but I've eaten there and it would be a perfect place to celebrate a birthday for a 16 yr old boy. Even though in the car you are all facing forward it would still work with having a cake. The people in front row of the car could just turn around for the singing. I think he would like it.

My stepdaughter will be celebrating her 16th B-day at WDW, too! We are going to make reservations for the WS Segway tour for her and DH. You can't take this tour unless you are at least 16.

We are also going to take her to lunch at Coral Reef and hopefully be able to book the diver to hold up a "Happy Birthday, Sam" sign.

People here gave some wonderful suggestions on how to celebrate. These are just the couple that we ended up choosing.

I don't know if your son would be willing to go along with it, but if you could get him to wear a "I'm 16 years old TODAY" T-shirt, I'd be willing to bet that some CMs would make some unexpected magic for him.
