| OKay week 2 for us this week. My DBF said he would run with me tonight and on tuesday or wednesday. He's really keeping me motivated for sure! So i will do my regular 4 day workout at the gym and 3 days of the running outside/treadmill. Tonight will be outside week 2 day one. I download the running podcast and an all new ipod running mix....i had to get all the slow stuff i had on there off now its all heavy alternative music...its the only thing i can listen to and run*L* i even have cool down music (its classical music, yes i'm a big ole nerd there) oh and emmy rossum too...yep big nerd here with a wide range of likes in music*L* Good luck to all my fellow trainies this week!

| Finished the 3K on Saturday....and I know think that this is doable. I stuck around to watch the 8Kers finish. Let me say that it was pretty gross at times. They must have really pushed themselves to finish 5 miles in around 45min. The hardest part for me was finding an opening. Maria, I am sure you will see what I mean. The running in a crowd was hard. You are at someone else's speed and not your own.

| I just wonder how many people disney is allowing to sign up for this race??? does anyone know anything about other races that disney has had in that respect??? also does anyone know how disney does refreshments if any or if they offer water stations or if they offer somewhere for you to keep your id and money? I am going to try calling t hat guy again today or tomorrow to see if i can drag any information out of him.... Congrats maria!!! and to crissy but i told her on the phone how proud i was of her! She said they were puking at the finish line gaaa----roossssss.....that was so nasty. I dont wanna throw up Okay so last night we repeated week one. I was a little worried about DBF he was looking a bit pale so we repeated now day 5 of week one and he did better with that. I may start week two at the gym by myself while he does week one over. I felt so sorry for him*LOL* but i told him after we got done what a good job he did when he's usually the one telling me that. It feels good to excel past him because he is the former athlete*L*

Congrats on week 1 ! I am surprised I haven't had to repeat a week yet...but there were times when I started a workout and had to stop because of being sick or just not being able to get my body moving that day.

| Well i'm listening to my body...i dont want to get sick like that. yeah i hate we had to repeat a day of week one but he was looking really bad..its not funny but he was faintish when we finished which sucks because i know i can do day one of week two with no issues. Like i said i'm going to start it tonight on my own on the treadmill and maybe outside tomorrow if he is nt up to it! He's usually got a really good endurance but i think he didnt drink enough water and it was really humid and 85degrees when we ran! He seemed really dehydrated. But he's so motivated to do this with me so i wont quit*LOL* so i cant say much. I figure it wont hurt to repeat it for now but i told him i cant do this every week or i wont finish. I was hoping to save my repeats for the last few weeks.....we will see i guess*L*

| Its so great that your boyfriend is doing this with you! Ben is very supportive of me but at the same time isn't all about getting of the couch and doing it with me. I have been forcing myself to always stay hydrated b/c of how much sweat I am losing during my workouts...I haven't had to combat really hot weather yet so we will see how that goes. I have to say that now that I ran outside it hards for me to run on the treadmill...I love the idea of being outside with all the elements rain, sun, little kid trying to learn how ride a bike on the track almost ran into me during my first mile ....lol. So I wanted to know when everyone is going to leave to get to the race...are you taking bus transportation?

| Crissy, Congratulations on finishing the 5K. Glad to hear that it wasn't that hard, that gives me courage that I can finish the EE Challenge in Sept. Thanks for posting about your experience, this will be my first race and was not sure what to expect. Crissy, I think it is great that your BF is running with you. My DH and I run together some but not much because he is so much farther along than I am and I feel like I am holding him back. And I don't think that it is very fair that I am huffing and puffing and barling making it and he barely breaks a sweat!! But since we are running the 5K as a team, we practice together some. Maria, I find it difficult to run on a treadmill after running outside, too. When I run outside I keep a faster pace (11 min mile.) inside I have a hard time keeping up with a 15 min. mile. Go figure??? I think it is because when I am outside I am enjoying everything around me and not really thinking about it, I just do it. I have started doing some of my workouts inside too just so that Ican keep a steady Pace. It sounds like everyone is doing great with their training, I can't wait to see how we all do.

| Maria: yeah well mine is usually glued to the T.V. too to sports or live concerts or whatever he can find. I'm not really sure what's got him into to this but i think seeing me so motivated did it for him. I am buying a new water bottle after i read that article you posted. I hope to get something good. I guess i will go to a sports store. I've been drinking about 48 ounces to 72 ounces per day which is two to three of my big water bottle. But i'm thinking that might not be enough...not sure. Supposedly, disney is providing bus transportation from AKL and CSR and ASMU. I'm not sure what time this bus will pick us up but i'm calling that guy tomorrow again with all my questions and i will ask this one again. But that's how we plan to get there because we will not have a car. Dawn: yeah i'm glad he's decided to do it with me. Its nice to share the experience with him. But i have a feeling he might back out if he cant keep up. But thats fine because for now he's still doing it. I do find running outside better sight seeing, its just the heat that gets me. But we are trying to run later as so the sun goes behind the trees a bit. I think we are all going to do just great!! hey we all get a tshirt and we get to see AK at night with all the rides we want*L* Okay i started Week 2 tonight day one...it was fine...i had no issues! I will let you guys know what i learn from the guy at the Wide world of sports...

| UPDATE ON EE 5K!! Okay so i called wide world of sports today since that guy never called me back. I think they are faltering a bit because this is the first run of this race. I dont think all the kinks have been fully worked out, however this is what he told me... STORAGE: storage at the race will be provided. It will be a package pickup type situation. So i dunno if guest services will hold it or what but it will be available. PICKUP TIME: If you are staying on an approved property they said buses will run from that resort. He said from AKL the pick up times will start at 5 and will run reguarly until the race is over. He said upon check in to your resort you need to ask the front desk where you should meet the event buses for the race. FOOD: He said that water and powerade will be provided free to the racers. He said that concessions will be open as well once the party starts. But that you have to pay for. I read on the website today a few interesting things. THey have changed how things read on the FAQS page. Like for one now the obstacle course reads that its not hard but you are encouraged to have fun. I did read that if anyone comes to the race with you they can wait in the parking lot to see you start and end the race but cannot be a part of any part of the race inside the park. I guess the 25 covers the after party thing. If you are going to the race all those people must be present for the sign up package pick up which is what Maria had said. You have one hour to complete the 5 k before that is shut down...the obstacle course shuts down at 8:30 and the scavenger hunt at 930. Well that's all i have right now....he really didnt seemed all that informed and kept putting me on hold. Im thinking at package pickup i will ask those questions one more time to be safe*LOL*

| Great Information! I am getting really excited. Today i finished week 6 ...I ran 2 1/4 miles it took me 31 minutes...not to bad I guess I can work on shedding some time after i complete week 9....I hva to find something to keep me busy until September 27. Ben was there to support me during my run today...lol...he did crossword on the bench and kept track of my time for me. The park where I run we estimated it takes about 4.5 laps to equal 1 mile so today I had to go around the track 10.5 times it made me a little dizzy...I am looking in to new flat places to run for week 7!

| Thanks for sharing the info that you were able to drag out of wide world of sports guy. I am glad to hear some of the concessions will be open because I think I will need a snack sometime in there. I figure we will probably leave AKL sometime around 5:30 or maybe even a little earlier. Crissy 1 and 2 you guys still want to share a taxi knowing that it will be myself, DH and DS having to go over to WWof S? While I am thinking of that I am not sure what the taxi policy would be for DS since we aren't planning on bringing his car seat we got one of the Care's Seat belt for the flight. Hmm something I guess I better investigate a little further? I finished week 6 yesterday and will start week 7 on Sunday. The 20 minutes was a challenge but I watched Law and Order while I accomplished it. LOL... thank you God for a treadmill and tv when it is 100+ degrees outside. |
