So here's hoping to a fast mile! | By the time I found out about the C25K I was jogging 10 min. and walking 3 minutes. I have to look at it again and see if I can't figure out where I would fit into the program. The humidity during the day is kind of high. The rain that we have had every day for the last week and a half are partly to blame for that. I am hoping that since the race is at night that it will be cooler for us. At first I was running on the treadmill but decided to run outside to see what it was like. The humidity and heat was really hard for me to get used to especially since I spent all of my time inside in the AC, but I loved running outside. I have finally gotten used to running in the heat and humidity. Now I have a hard time running on the treadmill. I find that I get bored running inside.

Yeah the humidity here in SC sits on ya and I too spend most of my time inside because of it. I have a bit of a confession. I run on the eliptical but never run on the treadmill. I know i need to try it out but i've seen so many people fall off of that thing at my gym it scares me so i stick to 15-20mins on the stairmaster, 10-15 on the bike then move to the eliptical for 30mins and run on that. Total an hour but no treadmill. Maybe i should try it out one day when the gym is quiet. But i do run outside but when i first started running I walked for 2mins and started an all out sprint for 3-4mins and nearly ran myself out. I found out i was going about it all wrong just as the heat and humidity set in. So, next week i'm going to run in the afternoons when its cooloer and do the couchto5k. I am so excited to get it started , but i'm keeping my routine at the gym too! Quote:

Please send me some pixies that I get better soon...or I am off to the doctor.

| Yippy Skippy! I am feeling better and was able to complete week 4 of C25k yesterday! Week 5 looks pretty intimidation it has me running 20 minutes straight by the end of the week I will be walking/running a 5K at the end of July here in Asheville with my brother...my brother is a marathon runner (8 under his belt) and he runs 5K's every weekend like its nobody's business so he is pushing me to do this 5K...its very hilly so I know running the entire thing is waaaaayyyy out of the question right now but I think I can walk it and possibly run the down hill portion. My new in between day workout has been: 5 minute brisk walk 1 minute at 5% incline 1 minute at 8% incline (Repeat 4 times) **I do this workout during the Guiding Light so it goes by pretty fast** Hope everyone is doing well and is having a nice 4th of July holiday!

| I am super impressed by everyones effort. I am trying to get through week 1 on c25k. I am running outside and the heat is a real factor that everyone needs to remember. Even in TN it is still pretty warm at 7pm. The race is going to be really hot. My advice is move that exercise program outside at least one to two days a week just to get use to it.

| I"m soooo glad you are feeling better Starla!!! Okay so i discussed it with DBF last night and he is going to help me get started today. I plan on working out as usual but not as loong on the cardio and he has talked me into trying running on the treadmill today. So i will give it a "try"....."please god dont let me fall" *L* I will try my first day tonight around 7 after it has cooled a little. Its still fairly hot at night but like Crysi said I gotta try to do this outside as to aclimate to the heat! Wish me luck! Hope everyone's fourth was great!!!

| Starla, I am glad that you are feeling better. Good luck on week 5 of the C25K. I know you will be able to do it. I agree with everyone about runninng outside. It is alot different than running inside. I run first thing in the morning but I guess I should start training in the evening too to get my body used to it. It sounds like everyone is doing great. Starla, how wonderful that you are able to run a 5K before Sept. My first race will be the EE Challenge. Also, how cool is it that your brother is a marathon runner. He should be a big help to you. My DH wants us to do a marathon, but we are a loooong way from that. But after spending the last month training for the 5K, I do enjoy it and think that one day it might be possible. scdisneyfan: let us know how you did on the treadmill. I am sure you did great! Keep up the good work everyone.
