Have you vacationed at Disney\'s Hilton Head Island resort? My DH absoutely refuses to go to "Florida" again this year for vacation (that's OK, he made me mad so I booked a girls only vacation for myself and my DD for her 4th Birthday in December-his loss) but I did get him to agree to Disney's Hilton Head Resort. Only becasue he thinks I'll let him take golf clubs (HA HA HA) SO. . . have you been to Hilton Head? Is there anything to do besides golf? How's the resort? I need the advice of my passporter friends. This is a family vacationand he's not playing golf every day. I do recall something about a spa, so a deal could made for golf one day in exchange for spa one day for me. Ok help me out here, I appreciate your input.

Re: Have you vacationed at Disney\'s Hilton Head Island resort? Disney's Hilton Head is WONDERFUL! My Dh and I stayed there back in 8/98. I am not aware of any spa being there... unless that is "new..." but I will tell you about our experience. Hilton Head is like no other place around. It is beautiful, simple, and "un-touched." There are many codes that require businesses to make their buildings look a certain way, not have tall, gaudy neon signs, etc. Hence, everything becomes somewhat "hidden." For example, Mc Donald's does not have the mile-high golden arches to mark it's property. Instead, it has a very low-key short-to-the ground sign, marking it's name. It's building is not red and white... it is subdued to match the other buildings nearby. This may sound odd, but what it does is make the area sooo attractive and inviting. Hilton Head is relaxing. It is a small area with golf, mini-golf, shopping, etc. Many areas are "private communities," so you are not granted access to those areas. As for DHH, the resort is wonderful. There is a nice boardwalk to walk on, a lovely pool, and plenty of cute shops and a marina nearby. They have an ocean-side rec. building down the road -- where you can use their private beach, their game room (board games), or swim in a small pool. Also very nice. Savannah is nearby -- about 1/2 hour, and Charleston is about 1 1/2 hours away. We enjoyed visits to both. Be sure to plan an excursion on the schooner that is docked at the nearby marina. This is one spectactular trip -- esp. by sunset. There are also dolphin watching trips, para sailing, etc. Also, check out the Disney Outlet store at the outlets just before you are arriving on the island. I loved this area sooo much, that DH and I are hoping to relocate to SC or GA (or even FL! ) once he graduates with his PhD. If I can answer any specific ?'s re: rooms, restaurants, etc. Please just ask away, as I never tire of talking about my 2nd favorite place in the world! Michelle

Re: Have you vacationed at Disney\'s Hilton Head Island resort? Haven't stayed at Disney's resort on Hilton Head, but we travel there frequently, as it is our favorite place to vacation. We own a timeshare with Marriott (Grande Ocean), so go at least once a year....but usually more (my folks have two timeshares there). We love the bike paths....be sure to rent bikes for your stay and explore the island. Loads of places to choose from to eat out, great beaches, and plenty of shopping (if that's something you enjoy) and other activities available. And I think Disney does a good job (from all I've heard) of filling in with other activities. -HiddenMickey

Re: Have you vacationed at Disney\'s Hilton Head Island resort? Thanks for the info. Hopefully, he will be cooperative. I defintely plan a side trip to Savannah. I'm very involved in Girl Scouting so I will have to visit Juliette Low's birthplace while we are there. Thanks
