| Huricanes and Tropical Storms Could anyone who has experienced a storm while at DW post their experience? We are going down in two weeks and there are enough weather systems off in the Atlantic that I'm sure one will be hitting Orlando about the time when we arrive.... After all the planning and saving for this trip, this is the last thing we wanted... Thanks

| We just came home on Sunday. we had rain from Fay the first two days we arrived, and then again from Gustov the day we came home. It was only for a short time and we just found things to do inside. Fantasmic was cancelled on our first day, but we were at MK that day and Wishes went off without a hitch. Tink even flew, even though there was some wind (They will sometimes not let Tink fly if there is wind). I has the same worries and we were lucky. When it did rain we found things to do indoors. (3D shows and simulators are great for this) Also, ponchos are your best friend when it rains! And while dollar store ones are cheaper, they are also more flimsey. We have Disney ones ($6 or so at any gift shop, just ask a CM for one) and if they get torn, we just exchange them for a new one. (And at least one will end up torn each trip.)

| I am so sorry. The rain definitely can put a damper on the trip, but sometimes it can also make ride lines shorter and crowds less daunting. I haven't done a trip there during a hurricane, but I lived in the area and when the hurricanes came thru in 2004 and the power went out at our house we checked into a Disney Resort. With the backup generators and all of the amenities of the resorts it is the best place to be from a safety perspective during a storm. So I hope you miss the storms coming that way...but if you do get caught you will be in a safe place and Disney will help make it the best it can be. Bring your crocs and rain gear and make the best of it

| We were there for the 5 days of TS Fay. We tried not to let it put a damper on our trip, but it wasn't always fun touring in the pouring rain and stiff winds The day Fay was due to "hit", they opened all the parks early (8 AM) and handed out pamplets that said they may have to close early due to the storms, and to listen for announcements. Never happened as there wasn't much more than a lot of rain, and some wind! IllumiNations was cancelled one night as the winds were bad that day (probably 30 mph constant). Spectro was already down, but I'm sure the other parades were probably cancelled, and I think Fantasmic got cancelled one time as well (if not more). Honestly, we just put on our ponchos and went out. One morning at MK, we walked onto everything. Yes, it was pouring rain while I was riding Dumbo and the race cars, but at least I hadn't waited in any line to get on them ![]()

![]() We were there the same time as Marnie and Rob. The rain allowed us to walk on to alot of rides. We loved it. So what if you get wet. We just went with, didn't let it ruin our trip and had a great time.

| Thanks for the quick responses. I love the positive outlooks and will encourage all in our party to keep the same optimistic view. Hey - it's still Disney... right?

We were there for Fay as well, and I think that there is NO WAY we could have done as much as we did without all that rain! We walked on to everest 4x in a row without a wait, and did all of AK in 3 hours. Test track fast passes were taken and we rode 3x without FP due to no lines and FP saved for later in the day. We FP Sorin and saved those as well for later. Mission space and all the mnts we did the same. When the sun came out the heat was hot that we wanted the rain to come back. Sure, we had blisters, wet clothes, and at some points got sick of the rain(day 5 ), but we had an incredible vacation after we embraced the rain. Good Luck, Nalagh

| We just came back from Disney and on last tuesday it poured and poured we were stuck in tomorrowland with water over your shoes height (I have a pic somewhere) but it killed the heat which was a relief. Then starting about Sat the wind picked up and just a few raindrops off and on but it again killed the heat which was a welcome relief. OH and I brought a painters tarp (light one) for our double stroller and it worked awsome. I put the kids in and then drew the plastic over my head and we had a little tent from the rain--plus using the a little fan to blow air helped too.

| We were there in 2004 during that fun hurricane season (and we're going back in 3 weeks... In 2004: definitely a wet trip which does have the down side of what everyone pointed out (fantasmic and parade cancellation, TestTrack closes, etc). If a hurricane does hit central FL you might get the park closing announcement, but honestly we found our resort to be really cozy and all the CMs really nice during the experience (for reference we were staying at Boardwalk Villas) Definite upside is the parks were a lot less crowded. We were in the parks the day after I think it was Francis (?) and I could swear the guests out numbered the CM in EPCOT. We have some of the best pictures we've ever taken (my DH just standing there in front of Spaceship Earth with no one else in the shot was amusing). Crowds definitely picked back up later the following days. I have to say it was a fun trip: Rain does make everything/everyone, well, soggy, but indoor queue lines/rides, friendly CMs, and some covered locations for Disney Characters... I'd still call the trip a success Good luck! (stay dry!)
