| I made shirts for my 40th bday trip and my dd's 13th bday trip and they looked fine for the trip but the minute you wash them they crack and fade. DD sleeps in her tshirts after the trip as that is all they are good for. I might try the tye die ones for this coming trip. I might try it with tank tops, the kind that aren't totally flat material. Might make for an interesting pattern in the dye. |

| I did some research before our family trip last Sept, and the professionals were highly recommending Jet PRO Soft Stretch paper--of course they recommended it be done with a press--they are pros after all ![]() I talked to a supplier who had instructions for using the paper with a home iron, and we followed these directions--hubby had to do the ironing as I did not have enough strength to put enough pressure on it. He actually stood on a chair (for better leverage) and ironed the shirts onto our island in the kitchen (with a protective cloth covering the island). He definitely got better after doing a couple designs, so I think the idea of practicing on an old shirt is a good one! We made 8 shirts for that trip--We were Snow White and the 7 Dwarfs (design courtesy of our very own Eileen again!) at Chef MickeysHubby and I in our shirts- I can't find the pictures I took specifically OF the shirts ![]() I think I may have shrunk these images too small as you can't see all the cool detail here, but you can get the idea anyway! Then we made 5 shirts for our last trip using a different 4 squared character strip for each person. (We aren't big matchy matchy ppl, but we think it is fun for 1 day or occasion in a trip). The shirts are all still in good and wearable condition though they've been washed several times--My "Happy" shirt is only worn around the house ( you look silly as only 1 dwarf, or even walking around just 2 dwarves No cracking or fading, though I know exactly what you're talking about with the cracking and fading as that is what happened after the first washing of some fun Tshirts we made for the last Star Wars opening night. Looked great for one time only which it sounds like is all that some people care if it looks, but I have trouble with the waste. For my husband's shirt on our last trip we used the best quality dark transfer paper we could find since he was wearing a dark blue shirt & his design was Tigger and required white edging for the pics. I think the brand was Alpha Gold (was also a professional grade paper), and since it sits on top of the material rather than melting in, his was the most vibrant, but a tiny corner of his design ripped after it was worn the first time. No idea why--perhaps it didn't get ironed as hard or something?? I have pictures that I will hunt up so you can see what I mean.

| Ours We just used a stencil to make a Mickey head shaped piece on different fabrics (animal print for AK, Halloween print for the party, etc.). These were ironed onto the shirts and then stitched on the edges for added security. The girls got a gossimer bow attached on one ear with a little thread and a little "boa" feather material on the ends of the sleeves. They took about an hour to make 5 of them and really looked liek the homemade boutique quality you'll find on Ebay (and I don't sew). |

| Wilton transfer paper? hi everyone, thanks so much for all of your comments. I am so excited to try and make my own tshirts now. I bought iron-on transfer paper from Michaels, the brand is Wilton. Does anyone have any experience with this kind? Where else can I find it? Walmart said they don't carry it in their craft section. Thanks Kristina |

| OK, finally finished our shirts for our Sept. Vow Renewal Trip. I made 4 shirts for each of us and we can wash them mid week since we are staying in a villa. Our shirts are all purple and red. We did one with tie dye though I am not happy with how much it faded in the wash and one with a bleaching agent. For the backs I used a dark color iron-on that so far my only complaint is that it has a white back ground so I had to spend hours cutting out each character so that no white would show! I don't know how it washes yet but I will let you all know. You can view our shirts in my album titled "Our shirts" http://www.passporterboards.com/foru...hp?albumid=696 Last edited by QueenMommy; 07-17-2009 at 01:37 PM.. |

| Could I just buy the shirts and send $$ for someone to do the iron ons and such for our surprise trip?!! That's still the easiest way to do it! Does anyone know how I could get a colored picture or to create an image from a photocopy of an old t-shirt? Stupid me didn't copy the entire image, but it was Tigger in MM ears... the rest was w/ him wearing the white gloves, red shorts, and yellow shoes... I just got the head and part of the neck area...

| Okay, my crafting skills are poor. I am making some of our shirts but I officially give up on making my own tie dye Mickey shirt. Just so you know, I did find someone else who can make these for a decent price and her's are perfect. She's making ours instead. If anyone is interested her site is tiedyegirl.etsy.com. Or Tie Dye Girl at Etsy.com Just a cheaters FYI.
