| home-made t-shirt ideas?? Good Morning everyone, First I would like to thank Jeff for his tips on how to make my own tshirt for our first disney trip. It sounds like this will be alot more fun than trying to track down a particular shirt I want in a certain size. Does anyone have any other ideas or tips for making my own tshirt? My husband has had a screen print of his business card put on a tshirt before so I was thinking of seeing if this could be done with a design I create. Where is a good place to find clip art? i already have the font that looks like the disney theme so I will definitely be using that somewhere. Thanks everyone. Can't wait to see some of your great shirts!! |

| Finding decent clip art is probably the biggest hurdle -- most of what's out on the web is very low-res and will print "yucky." My best tip is to find coloring books, scan them in hi-res and then color them in a graphics program. I have a whole slew of coloring books for this purpose and a wicked laaaaarge collection of scanned, colored and cleaned up images that I use for all of my graphics. If you find yourself stuck for finding a specific character, let me know and I'll check to see if I have anything I can link you to. Eileen

| Eileen seems to have the image thing down. I had fun making 4 days worth of shirts using "Generation T". We cut and sewed and decorated our Purple and Red T-shirts along with the Iron-ons. I will post pics when I complete them this week! |

| I just finished making several shirts for my boys for our trip. I got a lot of awesome ideas from the creative DISigners on the disboards. (The DIS Discussion Forums - DISboards.com - Powered by vBulletin) The conversations over there aren't near as nice as here, but they have a whole thread (Creative DIsigns) devoted to homemade stuff (t-shirts, envelopes, window clings, autograph books, etc.) I'm new to all this - I hope it's okay to post about another web site!

| Well... at least don't go "commando" in a white t-shirt and ride the water rides. Eileen

| I made 5 days worth of matching t's for our trip last month! (the other 3 days worth were purchased!) (I have the designs in my photo album in my profile) I just googled certain key words and clicked on the image search and found a number of useable images. I used PhotoShop to add words/names etc. I also found, many people reccomend the dark t-shirt transfers for any color shirt. I found that the light color transfers worked much better, had more brilliant colors, and stood up to washing better than the dark T-shirts transfers. I used the dark on our red shirts but the light transfers on the pink/blue, white and gray shirts and they came out much better. I also watched AC Moore and Michaels and ended up getting t-shirts for dirt cheap...also try Men's, Women's and Kids' Clothing | Bras, panties, T-shirts, underwear and socks | Hanes.com who has $1.99 shipping and sales going on all the time (Hanes was much easier to find all the same color shirts in the varying sizes I needed - 5 people from age 2-40) You can check out the pictures from my trip at Dolley-Family.com to see how they looked on the trip! Good luck! We got so many comments on our shirts from CM's and other guests, and we put the kids names on a few...that was really fun because CM's addressed them by name and they felt so special...oh and it was also great for PhotoPass photogs, they could say "Jacob move your head this way".

| I made shirts for our last trip and got soo many compliments. I used both white and colored shirts purchased from Jiffy shirts and had no issues with "bleeding". Iron ons were from HP. I'll see if I can post a few. I also have hundreds of images in my photbucket account. PM what you are looking for and i'll see what I can find. ![]() some of them, heres a close up of some. ![]()

| I also like the "light-colored" transfers myself -- the only problem is that Mickey's white gloves and the whites of their eyes will become the color of the shirt unless you modify the white a little in your graphics program. I find the "dark-colored" paper is sort of sticky forever after... Eileen

Oh my goodness - these are amazing. We want to do matching/coordinated shirts - but I can't afford to order them - there are 5 of us - and I really, REALLY need to get started doing some shirts ofr us. But, I have no clue where to start. I'm pretty handy with a computer and I have some vague graphic design sense - I can alter images a little bit and make graphics for my blog... but nothing to complex. Most of what you guys are talking about here is a little over my head - light vs. dark transfers etc... as I have never done this at all. The images on these shirts look bigger than a sheet of printer paper - and that is the size I thought transsfers were.... I would LOVE a quick tutorial if you wouldn't mind breaking it down some - I'm so impressed with these shirts!!

![]() Dark transfers are for dark clothes, and whites are for whites. (i think, been a while lol) I uploaded my image onto Microsoft Publisher, sized it to how I wanted it and printed it out on test paper, if it looked right i then printed it on the transfer paper. I bought ALL my shirts through Jiffy and only spent like $40. (shirts range from 2-4 dollars)We were also a family of 5 and probably only cost me around $100 for everything. (ink was most expensive part) If there is a certain theme you are looking for let me know and I can email you some images. I have TONS. I am not very crafty and was able to do it so I know anyone can.
