Question Help Newbie here, Christmas decorations!

Hello, I'm mostly a lurker, I haven't much to add, subract, multiply, or divide! LOL,
My question is, have any of you decorated your resort rooms for Christmas? Staying at POFQ with 12 peep (yikes!) during the season, and I'm planning my room to be the designated Christmas stop. I plan on bringing hot cocoa with marshmallows, a tabletop tree with decorations, and homemade Christmas cookies (on the plane in carry on luggage-hope we don't hit turbulance!)
I kind of really want to go over the top. I've seen pics of the standard view rooms, but I can't tell really what the color scheme is (brown and gold?) I know I can mail some stuff to the resort in advance, but how early is too early, and how late is too late? I also have heard I can have a grocery delivery. Is there a limit to the number of packages I can mail/have delivered?
Please help, I know I am not a good passporter, so I apologise in advance for my lack of skills.
Thank you all in advance! Nonni

HOLY COW, I forgot to ask, what about music? Does anyone know if they have a channel on the tv that plays Christmas music? Any ideas of how to have music playing in the room? No, I am too old for an Ipot or whatever, the most advanced I have become is a CD player, I see "personal" ones very cheap, but I don't know if they play out loud or just in those ear bud things! Help! Please!

Welcome aboard! We stayed at POFQ several years ago at Christmas. I put up a tree and strung a few lights around the window. I don't recall any Christmas music on the TV. You can get relatively small CD players with speakers. Or you can get a personal one and purchase a set of small speakers. Even if you had an Ipod you would have to get speakers, so it wouldn't matter at all which you had. You will have a magical Christmas visit I am sure.

Hi Pris, Thank you so much, I didn't know you could buy seperate speakers for the personal CD player. I already have wonderful Christmas CDs, so if I pick up the CD player I will get some speakers.
Do you remember what the color scheme was in the rooms? I've looked at all the pics of POFQ standard rooms I can find, but it's really hard to tell what color those bedspreads are. They almost look western. Thanks again! Nonni

We've only ever put up a small Christmas tree and some lights - we can't usually fit much else into the cases! As for a channel playing Christmas music, there are lots of radio stations that do that, although I'm trying to recall if I've heard any in Orlando (I remember some from Philadelphia very vividly! ), but I don't recall coming across any TV stations on any of our Christmas trips....

We stayed at POFQ in 2007. The bedspreads were a light golden yellow kind of color with a festive Mardi Gras print on them. The walls were a neutral color and the curtains kind of teal like. My husband's favorite memory from there was swimming in the pool while listening to "Frosty to the Snowman" being piped in. Hope that helps.

We didn't decorate our room on our previous Christmas trip and won't this year either. The parks and resort are plenty festive for us. We never missed having a tree or decorations during our Christmas trip. And Christmas music is played throughout the parks (instead of the usual music used the rest of the year), so you won't miss having it in your room (I don't recall there being a way to get any music on TV other than Disney Radio). You can always find a local station playing Christmas tunes on the clock radio, I suppose, though.

I prefer to spend my energy and $ on decorating my own house for the holidays to enjoy before and after our trip.

I always decorate with at the very least, a Christmas tree. It adds a touch of Christmas magic to the room!

As far as shipping:
Check with your local shipping company and see exactly how long it would take to send your boxes...and tack on a few days to allow for any shipping delays. I'd be careful not to ship too soon because it would be easier for it to be misplaced at Disney. The number of boxes would be up to you, but send the very least you need to.

Clearly label your box with the resort hotel, your name, the words - Hold for Guest Arrival on (put your date of arrival). When you check in, simply explain that you shipped a box, and the Cast Member assisting you will let you know where to pick it up or have it delivered to your room.

The colors are definitely mardi gras colors -- teal, rose, gold, etc.

There is a radio, but no Christmas music on the television. You would have to bring a small cd player and cds.

Enjoy your Christmas stay! It is so magical!

There is a radio and as chezp said many stations play Christmas music quite exclusively at that time. I don't know if any Orlando stations do, however.

We decorated our room quite a bit last year. We stayed at POP. We had a little tree that we decorated with Mickey and Minnie marshmallow 'smores decorations we made and several little ones we collected as well as lights, garland, and a Mickey/Minnie fleece tree skirt. We had garland and lights around the window with vinyl clings and some little stuffed animals on the window ledge. We hung small Mickey and Minnie stockings we made with the removable hooks on the wall. We had a Christmasy privacy curtain we hung on a tension rod. And a penquin nightlight/room scent thing from Bath & Body Works with a scent that smelled like Christmas trees. We drove so we had plenty of room to bring these with us. We had a very decorated room! Hope you have fun! Christmas is awesome at WDW!
