Pre-arrival photopass card

Got my travel docs yesterday (Yippee!)
In the packet was a photopass card. Do I have to preregister it to get the advance purchase deal?

I don't like that this card is paper -- I always liked the hard plastic ones. Have they gone to paper cards in the parks? Has anyone tried laminating the advance card?
Or I suppose I can preregister this card but have pics taken with a new card/account in the parks and link them. Right?

Paper? Yikes!
Did the Photopass card come with instructions? I think I remember reading that you need to still pre-order before your trip -- do you have a phone number or special code included?

Since you can combine cards on one account you can pre-register that one with whatever discounts it has and still get a new card(s) in the parks.

you *MAY* get *a* deal. not $50 off photocd, it would be $30-$40 off at most.

Disney's PhotoPass - October 2009

Quote:
Staying On Site - Guests who book a Walt Disney World vacation package should receive a special Disney's PhotoPass card included with their documents. Not to be confused with the $99.95 PhotoCD pre-purchase offer, registering this card online will allow Disney's PhotoPass to mail additional offers before and after the Disney vacation. A typical offer may be $30-$40 off of the PhotoCD for example.

Would this be in addition to any other discounts you may be able to get?

For instance, I just got a code from Sara (Belle*, my TA) for $50 off AFTER our trip. So would I be able to combine the two discounts if I were to receive the pre-registration card in my documents?

you can only use one coupon code at a time.

which is an interesting point because those who get the email to pre-purchase don't actually use a coupon code in the process so they can actually still use another coupon code if they get one.

i didn't get the email at 45 days even though disney has my email and i get emails from Disney Destinations all the time. I called and was told that the email could arrive any time up to 10 days before the trip. They said to call back if i don't get an email by then.

the rule is 45 days if you booked more than 90 days out, otherwise the midpoint between booking and check-in. and you had to book directly through WDTC and you had to opt in for emails.

that sounds like they are excluding folks who use TAs. I booked in January and opted for emails.
