Our Disney Store is closing!!! I am so sad!!!! Our Disney Store is closing!! The last day is May 24th. They said it was a real estate decision. Now I have a farther drive to get to a Disney Store. Maybe its good news since I spend way too much money there.

Re: Our Disney Store is closing!!! Oh my gosh, are they having great clearances right now? I happened up on a Disney Store downstate when it was closing and I got a ton of stuff at 75% off - and stupidly left an $80 snowglobe there that was $20. I thought and thought about it while in the store and decided against it. Of course later I wanted to kick myself!

Re: Our Disney Store is closing!!! [ QUOTE ] Oh my gosh, are they having great clearances right now? [/ QUOTE ] No such luck . They are just shipping stuff out to other stores! At least if there was a big clearance I might be able to put on a little smile.

Re: Our Disney Store is closing!!! Well, today was the last day for our Disney store! No good sales, and nothing much left...all shipped out! I was talking to a saleswoman and she said it was a real estate descision, because it was a very profitable store. She thinks it is because the mall is "making" everyone renovate toa more sophisticated style and Disney said this is our store we don't want to renovate! But that is only her best guess. I still have 2 more stores, but they are all about 50 minutes to 1 hour depending on traffic.

Re: Our Disney Store is closing!!! Ours closed back in February . . . I am so angry!!! I used to go look around and see what they had at least once every two weeks (yes, occasionally I would buy something . . . sometimes too much!!!) Our mall also announced that the same our K.B. Toys store would be closing as well, so my only option to find the Disney Princess dolls is Toys R Us now!!! (Other than the Disney Catalog, but whe I buy the dolls, I want them NOW!!!) I am just sad that I can't even drop in there and buy my daughter her Halloween costume or a t-shirt . . . anything like that!!! Until recently I didn't even know where the closest one is to me!!! I now know that I have to drive 45 minutes to an hour to get to the cloest one . . . and it is in an outlet mall, which is a VERY BAD place for me to go!!! Spendaholic here!!! UGH!!!I miss my Disney store so badly . . .

Re: Our Disney Store is closing!!! Sadly I think eventually all the DS will close. Now that the 5th Ave store (the "core" DS) is now owned by the WD Parks Disney merchandising is going in a different direction. Back last fall Eisner (yeah I hear your groans) gave an interview on Larry King (I think??) and someone called in and asked why the DS in his area closed. Eisner didn't direct the guy to go to another DS in his area Eisner told the guy about the renovation of the 5th Ave store and that the caller could also get alot of Disney merchandise at (EVIL) Wal*Mart. It made me want to cry. I want to support DISNEY not (EVIL) Wal*Mart. To me Wal*Mart is a money sucking company that doesn't care about anything but the bottom line...hmmm sound FAMILIAR EISNER??? *LOL* Disney is about Magic and the Disney experience...that is totally lost in a discount store. I worked at DS for 8 months and I loved my job. I cannot even go into the mall where I store once was. We closed on May 3 although we found out less then 4 weeks before the store closed it was still a shock. On the last day we had a lady come into the store and tell me that she had been at our store the day it opened...when Mickey came to officially open the store. She made it a point to be there for the LAST day. We still have another store in our area, on the other side of town (that is most likely why our store closed...we were older then the other one). I just want to cry! Our District manager called me and told me to let me know that I was not going to be transferred to the other store. Hopefully they will hire me for holiday help come August. I REALLY miss working there...ALOT!

Re: Our Disney Store is closing!!! Hi kv3291: you must be atlking about Monroeville pa store. I stopped there that friday and was shocked to see it closed. wonder if they will do anything with the other 4 pittsburgh stores (I always thought that 5 stores was diluting the magic a bit). Remember the magic. Jerry

Re: Our Disney Store is closing!!! Jerry, 5 stores? Where are our 5 stores?...Ross Park, Greensburgh, Century III, okay, I figured it out...South Hills is number 5! I am hoping they put a new one in Pittsburgh Mills that's opening next year. But that is too close to my house and I would spend way too much $$$$.

Re: Our Disney Store is closing!!! I moved from the Pittsburgh area about 9 months ago. One of my favorite things to do was Disney Store hop. I would go from one to the other all in the same day just for the fun of it. Each store always seemed to have something the other one didn't. I miss that. I now have 2 stores within an hour away, but I just don't have the time to hop around anymore. Although they have few items for sale that I want to buy (I don't have any small kids anymore and no grandkids yet!)...they are still nice for a quick Disney fix. DH says I'm too addicted and he's right but I'm happy this way. It's a shame though about Monroeville. It was honestly my favorite. Century III was never that friendly. Greensburg was the most distance away. I had just started shopping alot at South Hills before our move. DS#1 had hockey not far from there so it was a good place for me to kill time when he was at practice. Ross Park had changed to the "toy" store and had very little I was interested in, but it was a good place to kill time while DH spent endless time in Waldenbooks. Thanks for the memories.
