Disney Florist

So, maybe this all doesn't work like every other hotel I've worked at...

We leave this Saturday for our honeymoon, and my birthday is on Sunday. DH wanted to have flowers waiting in our room for me when we first got to our room, so he called our resort (CBR) and they referred him to the Disney Florist.

Now, every time I've ever done this, and I've both personally sent flowers and worked in hotels where we did this, this is how it works: You order the flowers from the florist. That day, the florist delivers them to the hotel's front desk. The hotel then sends someone to put the flowers in your room, so they are waiting there when you check in!!

DF told my husband that they CAN'T deliver ANY flowers until you've already checked in. So now I don't get any flowers because DH doesn't know any other way to get them there before we arrive!!! We aren't arriving to CBR until around 10:30 or 11 PM anyway, so they can't say it's because they can't give a definite time...

How have you guys done this in the past? Did DH just get a dumb person at Disney Florist?? I WANT FLOWERS!!!

Re: Disney Florist

yes i have done this and yes they told me the same thing. It is because you don't get your room number until you check in so they don't know where to have them delivered until you check in and get that room number.

But really it isn't that much of a problem, they will deliver them then and you still get your flowers. I feel as long as i get the flowers it is ok that they aren't sitting there the moment I walk in the door. I will take them anytime.

Re: Disney Florist

Will they deliver when you are not there so that it can be a surprise? I want to surprise my DH for our annivesary with a cute basket of goodies. We'll have arrived by 2 in the afternoon and then we are going to the poly luau that night. Any suggestions on how to get it all arranged without DH knowing?

Re: Disney Florist

I'd say talk to Disney Florist and see. The two times I have used them they delivered while we were in the park during the day and it was a surprise when we got back. However we were out of the room all day so have no idea when they delivered.

Re: Disney Florist

See now, I wonder why they dont leave them with guest services the day that you are checking in? I understand what they are talking about but it would be nice to have them in the room for you when you first get there.

Re: Disney Florist

The person at Disney Florist is correct. Disney Resorts will not put things (flowers, gifts, balloons etc) in the room before you arrive.

What if you as you are checking in you ask for an upgrade or change room type, or request a different location (eg eg at CBR you hadn't requested an area, and then on check in you ask for Aruba)? And there are all other manner of things that may cause a room # change at the last minute.

Disney will not put things in the room before you arrive, and I have never heard of them making exceptions.

But what you can do, is have it delivered to the room after arrival. So if you arrive in the morning (or afternoon) and are heading out in the afternoon (or evening), they will deliver to the room while you are out.

Or if you arrive late on your arrival day, you can arrange to have it delivered to the room the next day....your first full day at Disney.

I have always had baskets, flowers etc delivered on the day after arrival. We are always excited about our trip, and checking into the hotel, so the "specialness" can sometimes get lost. When the surprise arrives on the second day - it makes the magic last longer.
