Autographs -- how many?

I'm in the middle of planning for our 2006 trip. I would like to make autograph books for the three kids going (DS, Dniece, and DN's 1/2 sis)so that I know that the paper is acid and lignin free (for scrapbooking when we get back). How many autographs can we expect to get? I would rather aim high and have pages left over rather than have one of the kids miss an opportunity because there were no pages left. Of course, the way I'm planning on making these, more pages can be added, but I don't want to carry the extra pages into the parks.

Re: Autographs -- how many?

I just counted the autographs Ds was able to get - his book from Dec. 2001 has 25 in it and from our trip in Oct. 2003 there are 28 - and alot of those aren't repeats.

Re: Autographs -- how many?

I'd addaround 40-50 pages in each book. You never know who you might see, and like you said it's better to aim high than to have disappointed kids!

Re: Autographs -- how many?

This link shows character locations all around WDW, and I never realized there were so many. It looks like there are about 137 characters to get autographs from! Sounds like you should leave enough room for about 50 characters though, since that's around the average.

Re: Autographs -- how many?

The number of autographs you can expect to collect will depend largely on how actively you seek out characters for photos and autographs. My son is an autograph-collecting nut and so, on his first trip to WDW as an adult (it was for 14 days), he collected 72 autographs. However, I think you'd probably be safe with allowing 50 or so pages unless you have a real autograph hound in your family.

On my most recent trips, I got 24 in 2000 and 35 in 2001. Already made my book for my trip in April and I have 50 pages.

Re: Autographs -- how many?

Be sure to bring a THICK marking pen for the characters to use (the new Sharpie retractable works well). Many of them have "paws" and cannot hold on to a skinnny pen to sign their name!!!

Also - this may seem obvious -- but make sure it fits in their fanny pouch or your bag and isn't too heavy. I found out the hard way after I made lovely books for my son and two nieces on our first trip!

Re: Autographs -- how many?

I'll add in my 2 cents. I got 29 autographs on our trip and we actually walked past at least that many again (probably even more) and didn't bother stopping for photos or signatures. We were there about 2 weeks. And I echo the warning about the size -- I made tags for the characters to sign for my scrapbook and never even thought the tags might not fit in my PassHolder pouch. They didn't. So quite a few days, I went into the parks without anything for the characters to sign - which explains why we walked past so many without getting autographs.

Re: Autographs -- how many?

I sued the Paper Reflections 6 x 8 book and it just fits inside the pin trader fanny pack with almost nothing else in it. They also make a 4 x 5 one & I saw a 6 x 6 one in Michael's. My DS doesn't like to hold things so I always end up with his book, pen lanyard etc. We got 19 autogaphs in August. We would have gotten more but it was very hot so I didn't have too much patience for waiting inline. In October we also got 19 but we have been 10 times total so i try not to get too many of the same autograph. At MNSSHP I got some I had never gotten before like the Fairy Godmother, some kid from Kingdom hearts, Prince Philip & we got Jiminy Cricket at Epcot. We also saw a bear from Brother Bear in Epcot but we could never seem to get that one.
