A Fairy Godmailer Question

I know this might sound a bit dumb, but I have seen various messages about Fairy Godmailers, but I don't have a clue how this works, can someone let me know.

Re: A Fairy Godmailer Question

Fairy Godmailers are wonderful people who send out postcards when they are at Walt Disney World.

What they do - they put up an offer that they will be able and willing to do X number of cards on their specific dates of vacation. Then people PM them with the info they need - name of person receiving the card, address, etc., along with information such as the recipient's favorite character - upcoming trip, etc.

Then, while at WDW, the fairy godmailer will purchase a post card, and usually has it signed by the recipient's favorite character, along with a short message.

This is a wonderful way to spread the magic - especially for the little ones. I had a fairy godmailer mail a card from Princess Jasmine to my 6 year old before her 2nd trip. She had a long conversation with Jasmine when she was 5 - and when the card came - she was sooooo excited!! "Look Mommy - Jasmine remembered me, and she knows I'm coming back in December!" When we returned in December - she had to tell Jasmine (at the PSB breakfast) all about the card - luckily, she played along. She put it in a beautiful jeweled frame in her bedroom, and still has it on display - she's now 8 1/2.

Anyway - that's a Fairy Godmailer!

Re: A Fairy Godmailer Question

It's alot of fun Teresa. Marie explained it so well but I just wanted to add that I usually keep my postcard stamps in a passpocket and then I put all the addresses on a Word document along with any notes about favorite characters and personal messages the requester may have asked for.

Many wonderful Passporters have returned the favor to my kids as well after I sent their fairy godmailings- which speaks volumes about the wonderful people here.

Re: A Fairy Godmailer Question

And since I am the laziest person alive, I print out a sheet of Avery labels ((1x2 5/8) that I use for my daughter to send cards to her grandmothers and jealous cousins. So I plan to leave a couple empty labels for FGM addresses this year. So I can just peel and stick (so I'll be more likely to get them sent from the parks instead of the airport! :-)) Alicia
