| An Amazing Journey: Ch. 3 -- Bringing Home a Big Souvenir [To view the table of contents for the story of Alexander's "Amazing Journey," visit http://www.passporter.com/babya/story.htm ] Bringing Home a Big Souvenir Having decided that November was a bust, I lived it up on the MouseFest cruise. In fact, I have a vague recollection of drinking too much wine one evening. By the last day of the cruise, however, I began to feel a little odd. I put it down to too much travel, stress, and wine in combination with my meds. Even so, when we got to Walt Disney World, I decided I’d better make sure I wasn’t pregnant before I partied at the Adventurers Club. Thankfully, I always travel prepared and was able to test on Friday, the day of our big treasure hunt. That darn little test told me I was indeed pregnant. I suppose by that point I wasn’t terribly surprised, given my symptoms (I’ve gotten VERY good at reading my body during this journey), but I was dismayed. Here I was, in the midst of a very busy and stressful trip, I’d been drinking (bad, Jennifer, bad), and Dave was in bed sick with some sort of bug that I was probably going to get, too. I knew there was no way I wouldn’t be chalking this one up to yet another miscarriage. So I trudged through the day, doing the treasure hunt without Dave and trying to stay warm at the IllumiNations Terrace Party that evening. The rest of the trip was uneventful, but I kept expecting miscarriage #4 to rear its lovely head. Even so, I was good by skipping the adult beverages, the thrill rides, and anything else I knew to be on the “no-no” list. By the end of the trip, I was utterly exhausted and I’d gotten whatever bug Dave had had, and I developed a sinus infection. How could anything survive this? I tested again once I was home, and discovered that the faint pink line on the test had become a dark pink line. “Whoa, what is going on?” I thought. I was going to miscarry, wasn’t I? I tried another test, with the same results. My next thought was, “Oh NO… what am I going to do now? I’m pregnant!!” I know it makes little sense, but there it was. I was scared to actually be pregnant. I’d never really gotten very far before – my tests results were always progressively weaker, not stronger. Was I going to get to keep my MouseFest souvenir this time? [Read the next chapter.] |

| Re: An Amazing Journey: Ch. 3 -- Bringing Home a Big Souvenir I am so happy for you. I know what it's like to want a child and have to deal with all those problems. And to think when I "met" you at Mousefest on Saturday, you were already pregnant. I'm going to have to go back and look at that photo my little group took with you. Congrats to you, Dave and Allie! | Re: An Amazing Journey: Ch. 3 -- Bringing Home a Big Souvenir ºoº Oh Jennifer. I remember that very day at AK when you were registering everyone for the 2003 Treasure Hunt. You were working so hard, and made a point to thank everyone for coming. And later at Shontell's Wine and Cheese Party at the Boardwalk's Grand Villa, I remember you and Dave sitting on the sofa. And you looking at Dave and holding his hand and having a glow about you as yo looked at each other. ºoº ºoº "On to Chapter three. ºoº ºoº Sincerely, ºoº Ray ºoº |
