How is your new Year\'s Resolution coming along? Or at least, mine! One of my New year's resolutions was to try to budget better and to save some money, as well as paying some stuff off. One thing we have been trying to do was to grocery shop more prudently (ie, not buy so much junk food) and to eat out less. I know I have been cooking more, so i decided to compare last year's year to date with this year's year to date (we use Quicken). Well!!! I have spent almost to the penny the exact amount I spent last year on groceries. But....(drum roll please).... We have saved over $350 by not eating out as much! I was pretty happy with that figure...$350 is alot of Mickey Bars next trip! So...has any one else done any good stuff financially?

Re: How is your new Year\'s Resolution coming along? Good question Sue!! Chuck and I decided to cut back on the eating out too this year. We've saved $275 so far this year. Makes a big difference. We are also do the change saving thing. Well on top of the change, we are also throwing bills in as well. Since December, we have approximately $155.

| Re: How is your new Year\'s Resolution coming along? Ha. My spending has been good, but it usually IS good, so that hasn't changed. We do NOT eat out, but a few times a year, so that's never an issue for us. Gas prices are killing me as is DH not working steadily. double We are currently in OK for him to help my Dad w/ their addition, but he's already making noise about wanting to go home. He supposedly has 3 jobs waiting for him there, but I'm sorta doubting it. I'm pushing for us to stay here until this job is done so we'll at least have enough to last until he does get another job done. This was the year to pay off all the CCs, but I don't think that's going to happen now. Come heck or high water, I'm going to WDW/AKL in Dec of 2007, so he'd just better figure it out by then. | Re: How is your new Year\'s Resolution coming along? Well DH and I decided to start cleaning up old debt, and we paid off some stuff from ages ago. To save some cash we have a change jar that I toss in my spare change, gold dollars, and Susan B's into. You would be surprised how quickly it adds up! My goal is to have enough cash saved up to pay cash for our next trip In Dec. 07. |

Re: How is your new Year\'s Resolution coming along? Well, I kind of combined my new years resolution and my disney savings into one. I quit the health club last year because I was only going once a week. I figured out what that cost me and divided it up daily. If I walked or rode my exercise bike, I'd get that daily amount and put it in an envelope for disney spending money. I've not been very good and my pants that I can't button up anymore are proof. I counted my money and only have 19.00. I think I need to get on the ball. Thanks for posting this, I rode my exercise bike today! Now I'm closer to one more mickey bar, er, I mean money to spend on something at disney.

Re: How is your new Year\'s Resolution coming along? Well, one of my New Year's Resolutions was to quit smoking, which I have managed to do. No cigarettes since 12/31/05. I also wanted to try to do better financially. We just decided to consolidate our 1st and 2nd mortgage into one and it will save us a few dollars. I'm going to use that extra money to pay off some debt. We are also doing the change thing to save for our upcoming anniversary trip. Best of luck to all!

Re: How is your new Year\'s Resolution coming along? Although I don't have figures in front of me I know DH and are eating better since one of my resolutions was to lose weight and get healthier. Therefore, by cooking more we eat out very little and if we get "fast food" it's usually salads and neither of us use much dressing. Congrats on your extra $$ for Mickey Bars!
