| Just back from the consignment shop... ...where I picked up nearly all of DS's summer and vacation clothes for next to nothing. I love Little People Repeats. They sell only name brand consignments (Old Navy, Gap, William Sonoma, etc.) at a fraction of the cost of buying them direct online and most of them still have the store tags. So, I'm just posting to celebrate my savings. | Re: Just back from the consignment shop... I like consignment shops. I got my DD's crib, playpen and stroller from one back before she was born. I've gotten clothes for my DD from them. I've bought games from them. I've bought books from them (although the books aren't usually on consignment, they are bought outright from people). I've taken things in and had them sold there. I know some people would probably never even think to look into consignment shops, especially for clothes (let's face it, some people don't like to wear "used" clothing), but all of the ones I've been in, whether they have clothes or not, all the things they have are in extremely good shape. I was surprised the first time I went in one by the quality of everything they have, and usually if I'm looking for something, I'll check out the consignment store first - especially the one with the kids games and outdoor stuff. Unfortunately my DD is such an odd size now for clothing, so instead of hitting the consignment store, I'm making some of the clothes for her instead - and no one can tell the difference. As a matter of fact, some of her teachers ask where I got her clothes from and they are surprised when I say that I made them. |

| Re: Just back from the consignment shop... I have never been to a consignment shop (don't even know where one is around here) but I did go to Goodwill on Tuesday to get Shannon's costume for Annie (she is an orphan) and spent $12.00 to get a dress, sweater and ugly brown shoes!! I was so excited!! I will have to check out a consignment shop buying clothes for 4 girls gets expensive!! | Re: Just back from the consignment shop... We have several mom and kid consignment shops in the area. My mom used to take us to them all the time when we were little. I haven't been to one since though. It's sad because I've seen so many close and new ones open and then those close...it's hard to run a store like that, but they're so needed!!! Hurray for your finds! Take pics of Mr Cutie Pants in his new outfits! Jennifer |

| Re: Just back from the consignment shop... I need to go looking for some for DS8. Since we started wearing uniforms to school this year we don't have many other clothes. DS22 goes to them all the time. He loves to go to thrift stores and Salvation Army. Necie |

*MY* question, though, is how the heck do people keep their kid's clothes so CLEAN that they CAN sell them to a consignment shop??? I'm lucky to feel good about giving them to Goodwill! |

[/ QUOTE ] The reason why everything is so clean - and I have to assume all the shops do this - is because the one I took my DD clothes to, if the clothes weren't in practically new condition, they wouldn't take them in. This person pointed out every single little (and I do mean they were little - anything with noticeable spots I was told not even to bring in) spot on one of my DD dresses that she wore like only two or three times tops. None of the spots were even noticeable unless you looked really close - I mean like only a few inches away, but the dress was refused anyway. |

| Re: Just back from the consignment shop... That's awesome Chrissi! I take the kid's clothes to the consignment store as well as toys they've outgrown and make some pocket money in return! |
