| Airfare Offer from Amex I posted this in the Getting There forum but wanted to see what kind of responses it might get here. I just got around to opening today's mail and from Amex there's an offer for a "Food & Wine Issues/Bonus Airline Ticket" offer. Anyone else get this? I'm not wacky about the terms--it's 2 free issues of F&W Magazine with a $2.99 "processing fee" (ick) and then if you don't cancel they'll automatically charge $19.95 for the subscription annually. They are COMPLTELELY VAGUE about the Bonus Companion Ticket, but they do say that advance booking, blackout dates, and other restrictions may apply, coach class only. No word on airline, codes, etc. Does this sound worth a shot? Or should I just shred it because I could really do without the hassle if it's junk. I grew up with the commercials that Amex was such a "distinguished traveler's card," but nowadays I'm not so sure. for your help. |

| Re: Airfare Offer from Amex Does it say what airlines? I wonder what the blackout dates would be. You wouldn't want to end up like that Captiol One commercial! A "catch" might be that to get the bonus ticket you probably have to book the original ticket at full fare. That can get pretty pricey, especially with Southwest and AirTran offering great Internet deals as well as those US Air "e-savers" (Can you tell I get all the email alerts? ) It may be worth a phone call or checking online! |

We've been able to string along a lot of frequent flyer miles for a while, I think I'll just stick with those and not bother with this. It doesn't inspire enough confidence that it is worth the hassle. |
