ebay question

Does anyone know if when you first sign up to sell on ebay, if a savings account would work or do you strictly need a checking account? In the demo thing it says you need to put down a checking account number. Has anyone ever done it with a savings account?

Re: ebay question

Just an eBay novice - but if your savings account # has a routing number and an account number- it may work. So if you were issued checks for your savings account, the 1st 9 digits on the bottom would be your routing and you may be able to use that...not sure though...good luck!

Re: ebay question

I just looked and there is no routing number like on a checking account. This is the account I use to pay my paypal payments, I know it works for that but just wasn't sure if it would work for registering to sell.

Re: ebay question

This may or may not help, but when I first started I set up a separate checking account at another bank just for Ebay and misc stuff. I did not want any of that going through my household account. I do not do Paypal, only money orders. The checking account is just for Ebay to deduct my seller charges from. -Susan

Re: ebay question

If you can do Paypal payments through the account, I would think you could use it for eBay payments too.

Re: ebay question

Just be aware that some savings accounts have withdrawal limits--meaning, you can only make withdrawals, regardless of the amount a certain number of times a month. If you do, you have to pay additional fees or it may revert to a checking account.

Re: ebay question

Thanks, I didn't know that. I think it'd be just easier to have them take it out of the credit card.

I've used my savings account to deposit from my Paypal account when I've sold items.
