| Great tip to Ebay\'ers I just saw this tip on another board & wanted to share this valuable information regarding how people are hijacking Ebay accounts.. the hijackers intercept innocent people who are cruising around ebay searching for items. Then they lock into person's ebay account while the person is innocently looking at an auction ad and post a FAKE log-in page that quite suddenly pops up(that should be a red flag to you). The person thinks they lost their log-in connection so they just proceed to log-in again thinking it's the usual ebay log-in page. But it's not. The hijacker-hacker has just found out your log-in to ebay and begins to use your account to post their ads but then uses their own money account to collect payment! but YOU are charged for the listing fee's etc.. Fortunately ebay keeps their financial info stored on a whole other server separate from the auctions server. So the person cannot get into your paypal or bank or credit card. You should check the log in page every time you log in to make sure it is an authentic one and if you are not sure then close the browser and log in from the home page. Just a tip that might help you from being scammed & out lots of $$.. the hijackers are getting more sophisticated. |

[/ QUOTE ] Oh this is so scary, this just happened to me, I think! I had signed in like usual from the home page, checked to see how my auctions were doing, then did an advanced search on a couple of items. Then the next time I went to do another advanced search, the typical looking ebay page that you put your name and password in came up, with a statement saying something to the effect that I need to be a member to search and it was the 2 boxes like you sign in. I shreiked and DH came running. I got otta there! I wonder if this was it? |

| Re: Great tip to Ebay\'ers When I log onto Ebay the Ebay toolbar lights up and says something like account guard, do you know if it helps block against this? I was once sent a fake email and my eBay toolbar alerted me that I was not on an official site> Thanks for the info! |
