| We decided last night to switch our internet provider. By doing so we will save $50/month for the first 12 months, and then our savings drops to $10/month after that (which is still $120 a year and if somebody was to hand me $120 I wouldn't turn it down!) We've also been told by friends that our new internet service is faster and more reliable. Sounds good and fingers crossed that they're right! But now I'm starting to realize how big of a move this is!First of all, my email address will be changing. Fine, that's no biggie, I just let the people I want to know my new address, know it. But, I have some (ok, 1800 I have until Saturday morning to get this all straightened out before the technician comes to do the installation. Help!

| Yikes! Is there anyway to keep your old email address? When I first got on the internet, we had dial-up thru MSN. When we switched to DSL, I got an new email account (that I never use). I was able to keep my email account with MSN (for no charge) which really helped since I didn't have to change anything. I'd do a search of the FAQs of your current provider and see if that is the case for you ![]() I think you can also save emails as word documents (I know I did when I ran with Microsoft Outlook at work and was leaving my job...I just saved the important ones as documents instead of forwarding them on to people) ![]()

| I think you are going to lose them unless, like Marnie said, you are in an MSN (or Hotmail or Gmail) account. My original email was through our dial-up ISP, and since the account no longer existed when we cancelled it, all my saved emails were lost. I would ask the technician, or call tech support from your new company. ![]()

| Donna: Do you use Outlook or Outlook Express on your computer or do you you just go into your email via the web? If you use one of the above programs and your emails go into the programs, you can still have them. When I switched with our move, I still had all my saved emails in my Outlook.

Wait, this sounds promising... I use Outlook Express. But, my email account is hosted by my internet provider, Shaw. My address ends in @shaw.ca. Is that the same situation you had with your company Dawn? Maybe I do need to talk to a technician about this.

| If your emails are downloaded into Outlook Express and you have saved them into folders within the program then you are safe. All you will have to do with your new email provider is change the email account in Outlook Express that you download from. The tech should be able to get it set up for you without an issue.

I'll still need to thin out my emails, because 1800 is ridiculous but I'm really happy to find out that I don't have to try to monkey around with saving stuff. Thanks Dawn!

| When we switched from MSN to Verizon (we've since switched to TimeWarner) we were given a way to have all our emails and address books moved to our new provider. You might ask your old and new providers if they have the software that does that. It was WAY EASY. I ended up moving only some of them....and when we switched again, we didn't bother to try. I wish I could remember more about it for you.

| I'm just curious to know the topics of all those emails! I guess if they're work-related you might need to keep that many.
