Jump Start June

Hello everyone!! It's hard to believe it is June already. This year is going by so quickly. From what I have read, the cost of gas and groceries seems to be hitting people hard. I know it is for us. Let 's get those engines running and jump start our savings again!! to everyone!!

P.S. Thanks for the title again Sue!!

Well, this should be a quiet month for us (I hope) My goal for the month is to get my emergency fund back to $1,000 (Had to use some for the new tires on my car - it was nice to not freak out about how to pay for them when the money was right there) and to not eat out for lunches as much (maybe once a week)

On a positive note, I have decided that my sweet tea is better than MickeyDs so I probably won't be stopping there for my morning tea anymore ( that will save me $22.68)

Good luck to everyone this month!!

We sooooooo need to get back on track this month. May was pretty horrible, and I really need to jump-start my budget again. I need to get DH out of the habit of saying "I need" and "I want" and "I have to have" and start thinking like it's not a limitless cash flow.

Total debt paid for May: $1640.

Except for that FABOULOUS Debt Paid--- Way to go, Sue!! We were good until the end of May ... I have to think of the long-term benefits... $$$ saved on food.... This may be a bit depressing of a summer... what was pretty much promised for me to summer school teach, pulled out from under the feet and I have applied at a few places in the area, but nothing yet ... trying to stay local to save $$ on gas since we already spend $500-- 600/month on it for DH commuting (just imagine the debt we could pay w/ some of that $$$... Oh well, we will get through all of it one way or another! GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!!!

Great job, Sue! and Bridget, for finding a summer job!

June is going to be challenging. I have 3 shows this month with associated travel expenses. I have a VERY bad habit of splurging too much with the show income and I need to do a better job saving it. I did have to change hotels after my dates-wrong debacle and was able to get a suite with a full kitchen, so I'll be cooking rather than eating out at the first show. Some of the hotels are on points, but some I'll have to pay for and there will be a bit in travel expenses. We also have a few days at WDW tucked in between 2 shows. I'm planning to have DD get us into the parks on her passes and I've bought the DDP, so I just have to control the souvenir monster. DDs already have money earned and already know they want to buy the build your own ears, so I'm trying to limit them to that and a grab bag. I'll probably pick up a t-shirt and pin at the BC (try to get a tee and pin from each resort), so I'm hoping we can keep shopping to a well-controlled minimum.

I`ve been very busy work wise, the good news there is that it stops me spending! I`ve had four very low spending days up to now - long may that continue.
This month I have credit card bills to pay. They include money spent at WDW and one nights accommodation for our next trip.
Keep up the good work everyone

Expensive start to the month since I paid bills and also went out for brunch with a friend this morning. I'm hoping the only other major expenditure will be a used car so that I can dispense with my monthly car payments.

Good luck finding a summer job, Bridget!

Congrats Sue on paying down some bills!

Today was my nephew's confirmation, so it was a quick trip to MA, and money in a card... the good news is that there are no birthdays, celebrations, or trips planned for the rest of the month... so we should be able to save, save, save!

June has started off really well and I'm hoping it stays that way! We had lunch with DH's parents and they treated, so today should be a $0 day.

Good Luck in June everyone!

One day down and we controlled ourselves. Went to the footy and only purchased tix to get in (family pass) and DH had 2 beers. The rest was packed in the bag from home at supermarket/fruit shop prices!!! Feeling good - last year this day out would have cost $150 with lunch out as well....not anymore - I have a Disney trip to save for!

I semi-hemorrhaged a bunch of money this weekend yesterday I spent $20 at our CLOSING Disney Store and $29 because I wanted to go out for dinner (bad girl!) and $12 on DVDs (including Breakfast on Pluto, I'm so excited!) Today I spent $97 on groceries and took $30 out of our Disney Christmas Trip fund (bad, bad girl!!!) to go to a local festival. There I spent $6 on food, $2 on tips for otherwise free bevvies from DH's work and $6.38 at a Christmas store on A LOT of stuff! Stuff was 95 percent off, including a $1 2006 Lenox Mickey/Minnie ornament. I put the change back into the fund.

Those debt payoff quotes are astounding, Sue. Has DH been cooperating lately? I was so bad this weekend that after the festival when I asked if we could go to the Lobster Shack instead of going home, my DH insisted that NO that everytime we chose to not go to the Lobster Shack that it would be extra funds for the Disney trip.

Well, this month started off not too good for me. I went out and got a food scale so I can be more precise in my measurements for weight watchers. I did not go with the one I wanted and went with a cheaper one. Still got a good one, but not the top of the line one I wanted. Felt good about that

But then I looked at cordless phones. I have very few outlets in my rooms and I had a phone and an answer machine that both needed to be plugged in. I rearanged my room and had no outlets left for both. I am sick of having so many cords so purchased a phone/answer machine combo. The one I got was 64.99 and I did get the insurance. I try not to get the insurance, but for some reason we have the worst luck with phones in this house. After replacing moms about every year we got the insurance for her phone and had to use it a few months later.

So today was about $115.
