I know we have the ongoing thread to help each other budget and save money. I was wondering if anybody would be interested in a challenge next month. I was thinking of trying to cut out one thing next month that I spend money on, but don't absolutely need. Then I could tally up the savings for the month and maybe put that amount in my savings fund for WDW.
My challenge for myself is to bring my lunch to work every day instead of eating out, either in the cafeteria or any of the many nearby eating establishments. Since I work 5-6 times every two weeks, that is a total of 10-12 shifts for the month. When I eat at the cafeteria, I spend on average $6-$7 on a meal, so that would be a savings of at least $70 or so for the month if I just brought food from home. We have food at home that could easily be made into a lunch, and groceries are budgeted so that would be a money saver.
I'm planning to start taking my lunch once I return to school - plus at least one drink, and maybe I'll carry a water bottle?
If I don't take my lunch, I tend to spend $5-$7 for food and snacks, plus $2-$4 for drinks. Each day.
Maybe at the end of the month, we could total everyone's savings together and see how much we saved as a group as well as individually. That might help us all stick to the challenge and give it our best shot.

yeah, i always bring my lunch from home anyway that includes water
I was spending 3.00 per day in the pepsi machine that x's 5 = 15 per week
x's that per month I said more!! I needed the money more than pepsi, plus I save a ton of calories.
I now go out once every 2 weeks.
HI,
Can I join in too? I bring lunch to work, but I'd be willing to give on some of my shopping spress (we live in the country and the nearest Walmart is 20 miles away...round trip its about 1/4 tank of gas..say $10-$15.00 a week. Plus all the money I'd be saving from not going!
Oooh... I'm totally in!! Dd starts private school in September, and I've been a sahm all this time, and will be in her classroom a lot... but still either need to be really great at not spending $$ or I need to go make some...
I'm going to give up cleaning the house, doing the dishes, laundry...oh no, wait, that was my New Year's resolution!
Count me in for this!!! Or maybe that should be a separate thread, "Things we hate to do that nobody else does that we would have no problem giving up!!!"
