willing to do almost anything for a disney trip this year!
hi! i know people here would understand the hope of having a disney vacation every year, and i was wondering if there was anyway to do it this year again. my daughter looks so sad when i tell her it'll be a couple of years til the next trip.
now, i'm not saying i want to go bankrupt or sell one of my kidneys, but if there was a way to go this year, we want to do it. thing is, my husband workd retail and doesn't get paid a whole lot and i'm a vet assistant and don't get paid a whole lot either. our hours just got cut, but will pick back up soon hopefully. we're about 700 in debt, and we're taking care of all that first. but any tips would be awesome.
also, what is the bare minimum total price of a trip with 5 nights at a all-star resort, 3 days in the park with a park hopper in everone's opinion? and i really mean bare minimum!
I would look at the little things you do that you might not even think about. Do you ever buy coffee at coffee shop, go to the movies, get a newspaper delivered? Do you have magazines that are up for renewal? These small ticket items can add up. We used to have pizza delivered on Friday nights. We gave it up. This savings added up to $60 a month.
What are you willing to do without? Can you switch any food items to generic such as cereal? Buy suave shampoo? Would you be willing to give up cable (assuming you have it)? We weren't willing to give up some things but other things were easy and some were hard but okay.
In terms of pricing, it really depends on when you are going. Value season would be cheaper. How old is your daughter? 9 and under are cheaper. There are also some inexpensive but decent off property hotels. I would price some options and see what you come up with. You can price things out on Disney's website. If you already have AAA, you can get some great room rates on values. Our first trip we only paid $50 per night for our room.
Good luck!

Hope work will pick up for you and that you'll be able to make the trip. Other than cutting back as much as possible, I really don't have any other advice.

thank you!
I depends on how many guests, the ages of any childen in the group, and what dates you would like to go. The cheapest way to go is to visit during any value season, drive instead of fly, and do without park hopper and water park options.
Right now the "pay for 4/play for 7" deal is great -- you pay for 4 nights at a resort and for a 4-day ticket for each member of your party and Disney will "upgrade that to 7 nights in a resort and an 8-day ticket for the same price.
You could also look at going in September when (if) the Free Dining promotion is going on.

PS - in terms of saving up, there's a great thread HERE that will give you good advice. I highly recommend getting (FROM THE LIBRARY!) the Tightwad Gazette books.
When actually planning the Disney trip, there's a great thread HERE for info on saving money while on the trip.
