NON partisan RANT!!

Seriously, could you throw a rock in Washington and NOT hit someone guilty of tax evasion???? This IS after all what sent the infamous Al Capone to prison!
I vote that this year the IRS is NOT allowed any audits. Or if they do insist on them, we are allowed to show up and just apologize, while blaming Turbo Tax.

"Dear IRS:

I am so sorry I didn't pay all the taxes I should have. Turbo Tax must have gotten my profession wrong and marked "Politician, allow tax evasion" on the form. I will of course get my illegally hired secretary to fix this - as soon as I find him.

Thank you -
The person who pays your salary"

I always put this stuff into a certain perspective....

These folks are generally quite wealthy and, therefore, almost always use an accountant to do their taxes. While they **SHOULD** review their prepared taxes before signing and submitting them, many don't have time and are trusting in their CPA to take care of it properly. (Not that there aren't dishonest politicians and accountant... but....)

When this stuff is reported to the "average American," (usually as a partisan attempt at inflaming us and influencing our opinions about a politician) it's because we, as the "average American" are generally responsible for our own taxes and we get all angry about the cheaters.

I tend to shrug this off and see it for what it is -- partisan bomb lobbing.

Hardly partisan bomb lobbing. All 4 revealed the issues themselves. Why they didn't tell the Obama vetting folks is beyond me. I can only assume they didn't know

It's a big joke on both sides if you ask me. And we are the ones paying for it. I've always said this, doesn't matter if it's dem or repub. the fat cats in washington are all lining the pockets of someone. And they use our tax dollars to do it. As far as this issue, nobody checks these things out before they get nominated??

Trust me, I'm not saying R or D, (like the R's are sooooo following the tax laws...), it is just ridiculous.

I agree that those nominated should've disclosed anything they knew about -- and, gosh derned it, should've RESOLVED as soon as they became aware of it!

But, when I talk about partisan bomb lobbing, I'm talking about the tons of talk shows, TV appearances and general media discussion that will go on and on and on about all of this -- from both sides of the aisle -- whenever *anything* comes up about either party.

I personally feel that our politicians spend more time and money "spinning" each and every blessed issue than they actually spend resolving them.

Ugh!

But... we so rarely have politicians that are worthy of their positions.

I kinda think it's a Catch-22: the "good" people don't want the job and I don't want the people who *do* want the job.

Yet someone has to take the job... and I get stuck having to vote for the "least offensive" option.

I know what you mean. I had considered running for office later in life...once I've worked in the real world for awhile...but I just don't want to be surrounded by those out for themselves. You become who you surround yourself with. I think there are good people who go into it with very good intentions and then become caught in the sticky web and/or are shut out because they don't play by the "good ol' boy" system. Its too bad real everyday people who know how to work hard and balance a budget (and work within their means) don't have a snowball's chance in Hawaii to survive in that atmosphere.

Maybe this is my cue that I should run...

Harmon for US Senate 2016! How does that sound? My platform is free trips to WDW once a year for all my staffers...any takers?
