| Ponder this with me, won't you . . . I received my new (well refurb) IPOD Shuffle on Thursday. Very excited!! It took me a week to decide what to buy as I had a specific price range in mind plus I need to buy the FM transmitter for the car. I was discussing this with my friend Tracey and she posed a question to me so ponder this with me, won't you: Why is it that we can spend like $50 on our kids without even thinking twice but yet we have to justify the cost when we want to buy something for ourselves?? Does anyone have this same problem?

| I think it's especially hard for moms to do something nice for themselves. |

| Yup! Same thing here!! I found a solution as far as clothes go for me (that was my worst thing, I justfied it by saying "the kids outgrow they NEED them, i just want them" when in reality there were things I NEEDED too!) I used my Old Navy card to buy there clothes then the rewards are all mine. i save them up until I have $50 or $60 in rewards then go on a little shopping spree each season!! No one else gets to use the rewards but me so it "forces" me to treat my self at least twice a year!

| My mom is the same way. She doesn't blink twice when being things for anyone else, but has a hard time buy things for herself.

| It's because we're Martyrs. We think nothing of depriving ourselves, yet making sure our kids are cared for. I think it must be a natural response - possibly geared to protect children during famine? You know - the mom will sacrifice to make sure the child eats, thus ensuring the continuation of the species. |

| I even end up spending my birthday money on my kids or husband. Personally I think it is because I keep waiting for somone else to take care of me the way I take care of them. It's a fools errand really but I keep doing it. I do have my DVC though. When it comes down to it that's all that matters. |

| I am the same way with my kids and especially my grandkids. I will always get something for them before me.
