Disney Visa catagories

Several times I have signed up for the special 3X or 5X rewards points but it never works out.
I usually don't spend that much in any one of the catagories. This past time I got a deal that was three catagories combined - I think gas, groceries, and airlines, but it still didn't work out
Part of the problem is that the places I shop don't appear as "grocery". They just come up as "other." Is there a way I can change that or am I out of luck?

I have signed up for some of these programs (although I have not received a notice about one in over a year) and have never been able to understand how they have worked.

Usually it is a mailed promotion which gives details of how to sign up for the double or triple rewards points online. There is always a minimum spending amount per month and depending on your spending habits it can be over $500, over $750 etc. Any amount over that minimum gets doubled (or tripled).

I have gotten a couple over the 5 years we've had our Disney Visa. Not sure how they select who will receive the promotion.

I get one in the mail every three months or so. Then you have to go online and put in an enrollment code. I have only gotten those bonus rewards once because I bought airline tickets that put it over the minimum. I wish the grocery store I shop at wouldn't go down as 'other' either.

That actually doesn't mean anything - most of my purchases say that but I always get my bonus. If you call the 800 number, that computer system will have different descriptions too (and more accurate too) for your purchases. And don't forget, when you're given a minimum to spend, that minimum is in those categories only. So for instance if your told a minimum of $250, it can't be a total of 250 for any purchases, it has to be 250 in those categories for the bonus points. some minimums they give I feel are ridiculously high and others are very easy to meet (at least for me since I charge everything then pay it off).

A lot of the "other" will actually show on their end as eligible for the promotion. You can call and ask about specific ones if you want to know.

For this last promotion:
I just got my last month's billing and had 45 extra points in it! I had 7 and 10 extra for the two months prior, and this month's bill was the smallest. I think they must have bunched some of the prior two months into this last billing for some reason. I was very surprised and delighted!

I used to think they sent me them to get me to use my card (I was using another one more and going months without using Disney Visa), but I've pretty much used mine this past year exclusively and still ended up with two promotion offers. They both came in the mail and looked like really large folded postcards.

Oh, and the more you use the card ....the higher the level of spending you have to reach before you can get the promotional points. I used to have to spend like $500 in a categories they choose, now its been more then $1000 each time.

Who knows what the method to the madness there is in marketing at Disney?
