| cancelled a credit card I have a card I have had for 19 years... I was late on a payment, it completely slipped my mind while I was on travel - so I paid it as soon as I realized - and the MORE THAN DOUBLED my interest rate. I called and asked them to lower it back down - and they said NO.... They told me that if I didn't miss a payment for a YEAR they would CONSIDER lowering it - I know it was my fault - but since I haven't been late on a payment in like 7 or 8 years -- and to be late ONCE and then more than double the interest rate.... makes no sense to me. :

| Unfortunately, with the new bill coming into effect in a few months, CC companies are going to put it to us any way they can. I know there is a company we will never deal with again after all the dust settles. Sorry that you got treated so poorly.

| Sorry to hear it, Terri! Since you are such a long-time customer, it seems really stupid that they can't make an exception in your case. All the automation of everything really hurts--both them & us!

| We are cancelling all but one card, the Disney Visa, since I pay off all my balances before I get charged now. Didn't use to be that good but I made that change this past year and am so glad I went through the budgeting pain to get there.

| Here is the really funny thing - they wouldn't work with me when I had the OPEN account, but they lowered my interest to ZERO on the closed account and set up a payment plan with me - making payments are half as much as they would have been before....

| Sorry that happened to you. I had a similiar thing happen with BOA. When they wouldn't work with me even though I was a long time customer I canceled the card, put in through the shredder and then mailed it back to them.
