How do you organize your coupons?

I am trying to use as many coupons as I can while grocery shopping., trying to save as much as I can. I have a coupon wallet that has sections in them. I have each slot marked by type of food, aka Drinks, HBA, Cleaners, Bread and Cereal, snacks and such.

I read online on another sight that some shoppers organize them by the aisles at the grocery store.

I am finding I am always taking so long looking for a particular coupon, especially out of the HBA and snack coupons.

How do you organize yours? Anyone find a faster way of locating the particular coupon you need?

I arrange them by sections in the store and priority. I have a section for the coupons that I know I am going to use because they are on my shopping list and the ones that I might use if the price is right.

I have to admit I don't mind taking my time because I usually leave the kids at home or send them on "missions" with my husband to find certain items. I like the moment of peace to find the coupon and compare prices.

when I remember to take them with me, I write my shopping list on the back of an envelope and put the coupons in the envelope- but I am a bad coupon user- this is the best system I have found for me

I used to have a coupon organizer, but found I always forgot it when I went shopping (didn't really fit into my purse along with my wallet, planner, full-sized brush, etc. etc. etc. ). So now I just put them in my wallet (it's a nice sized wallet with lots of pockets) and look through them before I go shopping, whether it's for groceries, clothes or whatnot. I'll pull out the ones I think I'll use compared to my shopping list, and stick them right up front. I only keep the ones I think I'll actually use - so not for stores I never go in or for products I never use. I also go through them every so often to throw out the expired ones. Works pretty well for me.

I use a file organized by type of product. I go through all of the sections near the beginning of each month to discard expired coupons and move coupons expiring that month to the front of the section. Looking at the coupons monthly helps me remember what I have coupons for. I have a spare section at the front where I put my shopping list and coupons I might use on my next trip.

I arrange the coupons according to category. But DH does the food shopping and usually forgets to bring the coupon organizer holder with him to the store. (I think he feels silly walking around with a floral coupon holder) I love the idea of writing the list on an envelope and then putting the coupons inside. I am going to try that next time DH goes shopping.

I organize them by category. I found that I do not always shop at the same grocery store week to week, so I cannot have them organized by aisle.

I'm a bit crazy...I organize mine in a binder and use separate catagories to divide them up (i.e. refrigerated, freezer, canned, etc) I then use baseball card sheets to put the coupons in so I can see them all at once. Last week at the grocery store: Pre coupon/store sales price: $91.00 after coupons/sales: $32, plus I got $12 catalina coupons to use on my next order. So basiclly, $91 for $20

I have my coupons at home organized by type of product (food, cleaning, ect). But when I go to the store I check my list and put the coupons for the items I am purchasing in a seperate envelope that I attach to my list. I only shop once a month so I have to be pretty organized.

I have an old cardboard box that my wedding invitations came in (20 years ago!!). I made little tabbed dividers out of an old sheet of bristol board and have broad categories -- like "Meat" and "toiletries" -- that I organize the coupons into as soon as they're cut.

I keep that box in my car along with my canvas bags and only bring it in the house on Sundays, when I cut out the coupons.

I keep the dividers alphabetic, but the coupons within each category are randomly shoved in there. I keep the very back section of the box for expired coupons -- as soon as I see one in my group, I tuck it back there for later recycling.

On Thursdays, I go through the grocery store sales flyers and mark down the staple items that I generally buy and their sale price. If I know I have a coupon, I make an asterisk next to it.

The next time I go to the car, I tuck the sales list into the coupon box.

It helps me to always have it with me, as I tend to stop whenever I'm passing one of the grocery stores in my area.

By category and then by expiration date. Sorting by expiration date is particularly helpful if you have multiple coupons for a particular item that expire at different times plus I'm less likely to let a coupon expire.
