| Anyone do a Christmas Club ? Every year at this time I say I am going to do a Christmas club next year so I have money for Christmas shopping. Of course Every year I don't join one. I see Sears is doing one too now, though I don't do much shopping there, so would not be worth it for me. I am thinking next year I will join one at one of the banks here. Anyone have one they use for Christmas shopping? Or have one for saving for your vacation instead?

| I always have a Christmas Club account where I have my checking account and just have the money taken from my checking every week. It is always nice to get the check the middle of October to start my Christmas shopping.

| I have both a Christmas club and a vacation club through my credit union...even if you start small(maybe $5or $10) a week...you don't even notice it because it's money you probably would have tossed away on a magazine or coffee or impulse buy...Seeing it add up encourages one to keep adding more to those savings clubs...I posted recently that I quit smoking and went immediately to the credit union and had the money I had been spending on cigarettes taken out of my paycheck and put directly into my vacation club...this is a significant amount since I was spending so much on this very bad habit...

| We have one for vacation which comes from my husband's check (it's called a vacation fund, but it's the same idea-- they take money out every week from his check). I am opening a Christmas Club to be taken out of my check as soon as I get my first paycheck (starting a new job)--obviously it won't help us this year, but next year will be nice.

| I have had a Christmas club for as long as I remember. I also have a vacation club. The Christmas club automatically comes out of the checking every week and the vacation club comes out of my check.

| Other than a convenient way to save, does the bank give any incentive -- like do they give you $20 in the check they send in October? I think I might have to start this next year. Eileen

| I think both of these would be great for Dh and I to start next year... this year we are scrambling for Christmas because we are determined not to use CCs but did not plan this out far enough in advance... and maybe if we do a vacation club, I can actually convince dh to take a vacation ![]()

| I've had a Christmas Club for years. It sure is nice to get money to pay cash for Christmas. It's so easy to have it deducted from my check rather than for me to try to deposit the money. I am afraid I will find other uses for it before I could get to the bank. This way, I don't ever think about it. |

| They usually pay a very small dividend...but it's kinda like found money because when it's drawn automatically, you don't really miss it...and it's kinda like a tax refund of sorts...technically it's your money...but it's like a payout

| I have one! I set it up at the bank that my paycheck is drawn on, so when I cash my check, the first $30 goes to my CC account. It's very very helpful to have! ![]()

| I have one with my credit union through work. It's nice to know that the money is there for shopping when it normally wouldn't be because of paycuts and short hours.
