Holiday Budget, do you have one?

Has anyone sat down and wrote out a holiday Budget?

I did last year and plan to this year, but I have not made it out yet. I really need to sit down and do some # crunching. I am thinking I better get moving as November is only 2 days away, yikes!!

We have had a Christmas savings account for a very long time and from there we budget how much will spend on various gifts and for whom.

This year I think we will budget a little better than in the past. We had lots of expenses this year and need to recoup some savings. It didn't stop me from buying DVC though .

Not a budget, but we are cutting way way back this year. Only giving one gift to each child in the family and then a few things for DS. All adults have agreed to skip gifts this year.

No - I had one in mind, but DH and I didn't agree - and he just HAD to buy some guns and stuff for hunting. He says the venison he brings home will save us money - but if you add in the amount of $$$$$$ he's spent on hunting stuff (guns, ammo, licenses, going to the rifle range to "sight" the guns, clothing, etc), I think it's going to be the most expensive "free" food we will ever have had. Maybe we'll break even in about 50 years.

Same here. We will buy for our niece and nephew . . . then for DS and DD.

DH and I are still discussing the subject of buying for each other . . . I say we shouldn't but he always says he "feels bad" if he doesn't do anything and ends up doing it anyway. We've been talking about buying a Playstation 3 for a while, so we will probably just buy that and call it our Christmas present to ourselves/each other.

We starting buying somethings a few months ago. Not much really left to get. Something for the youngest, my dad and mom. A niece and nephew. Hopefully my wallet won't be too broke. Plus we need to save out our next Disney trip. Which is starting to take over my holiday Budget. My DH asked me what I wanted, for Christmas. I said nothing, just let me buy what I want when we go to Disney!

I've reached the stage of 'what more do the need/want??' with two teen girls (15 & 17). Every year they get loads of 'stuff' that gets used for a while, then forgot about after a month...so this year they're getting one gift each (something nice) and the rest will be gifts for the whole family to enjoy (ie: theatre tickets for a broadway show, movie passes, whale watching, stuff like that, that can be enjoyed throughout the year)

Of course my youngest wants to have a grand finale present of a disney trip...that's not happening for 2010

Not a strict one. We just have a "no credit cards" rule and a ballpark amount we want to spend on each kid. We have never bought gifts for the adults in our extended families. Christmas has always been a "kids only" thing.
