I know many of you on here are also Disney Rewards Visa cardholders with Chase. When planning a trip I always stock up on Disney dollars by paying my regular expenses with my card and whatnot. So I logged in today at work to see how many DDRD I had accumulated on my new statement and my credit line has gone from $5,200 to $900.
I promptly called costumer service and was put through to the dept that handles this. They literally had no reason for this. During the planning of our wedding we ended up carrying interest on the card for paying for some of the big tickets items but promplty paid it off with the balloon check I get at the end of each school year (I am a teacher so its my summer pay). So we have not had more than a couple hundred bucks on the card for at least the last 7 or 8 months.
I reasoned with them that now that I am married and my husbands credit is so wonderful, my credit should have gotten better. I even asked her to look at passed statements from 2005 or 2006 when I carried a much much much higher balance. She had nothing to say. Literally no response.
I was getting pretty outraged that this costumer service rep has no reason why, even though my credit has gotten BETTER my credit limit went down. And I have never been late or went over my balance in the 6 years I have had the account! Then when we looked further into the account they had sneakily increased my APR as well. I was livid, threatened to cancel the account and asked to speak with management. To appease me they increased my limit to $2000 on the spot.
I know this is a hard time for credit companies. But I do not think I deserve to get penalized for being responsible with my credit when 4 or 5 years ago when I was maxing out the card they continually upped the limit. Not that $2000 is anything to scof at, I just like to pay my final WDW payment on the card, and reap the DDRD benefits! And I liked knowing that God forbid something horrible happened or I was stranded I had an emergency card.
In any case, I just wanted to urge everyone to check their accounts online now and their statements and make sure you did not also recieve a sneaky credit line decrease or APR increase!!
I just happen to have my latest statement with me. My credit line is unchanged. I did get a letter about APR changes a couple months ago but I don't think it's changed much if at all. (I always pay off each month, so never really look at that).
Sorry that happened to you.
I know that every credit card we own, both major and minor, has sent a letter in the last six months telling us that they were changing the way they did APRs or other financial things, with what we could do if we disagreed and wanted to opt out.

We have gotten a lot of APR updates as well. However, I save all of that stuff and even went back and double check and had gotten nothing from Chase. Like I said, I am not a fan of Chase and only stick with them because of Disney. I liked the way my account was managed much better under Bank 1.
In any case, I have gotten a half dozen PMs from people with the same situation who chose not to post here. I actually thought mine would be the worst case but some people had an even higher limit knocked down to $900. I just hope people read and check their accounts so their are no surprises.
I am tempted to just get my DDRD transferred to my card and close the account. What a pain.
We haven't had any changes either! I haven't paid attention to the APR if it's changed, since we pay it off every month.
I know you are like me and prob just have it for the "Disney" side of it but I can't help but be insulted with the fact that they have the nerve to increase interest on costumers like you or I or anyone else who is responsible with their money.
It's not just Disney (or Chase)... All of our cards that have low or no balances have had their limit dropped, the only one that gave an explanation told us that the companies are "streamlining" the card limits so they could give the higher limits to the people that really used them... Fine with me, don't want my business then I'll go somewhere else...
I just checked mine, and my limit is still 5K. I usually have to tell them to lower it, not raise it though!
I agree! When my Disney Visa was originally upped to $6500... I called them and asked them to knock it back down to 5k... It was actually an UNCOMFORTABLE amount of money to me! lol! I am eating those words now!

I know that it all stems back to the legislation that will go into effect in the next couple weeks... I have a feeling we are all going to see the return of infamous "annual fees" as well. I am going to get out of my Disney Visa while the getting is good (after I recieved my new gift card loaded up with my DDRD at least)!
A few months ago when they raised APRs, mine went up, but they also raised my credit limit to $26,500! I could buy a car (of course I wouldn't but isn't that just silly high?)

It's funny you say this. I had another credit card company send us a letter stating that they are implementing a $60 annual fee that will be reimbursed once we charge more than $2400 on it. I only use the card for automatic payments of my life insurance policies because the credit line isn't that high. Now way am I going to charge 2400 on there (not when I can use my Disney card and get something for that much money). So needless to say, I'm going to call and tell them I don't accept the changes. I won't miss the card.
Similar problem with Disney Visa. We had about $10k balance (we got into some trouble we are getting ourselves out of now) and we went over our limit and they didn't decline the purchase just let us go over it. Again, our fault, we should have been paying closer attention but they started charging us the amount we went over which was $2,000 plus a very hefty overcharge fee. I totally understand were they were coming from and I take full responsibility BUT...... I made big payments for a few months but they still closed our account and would not let us have our disney pts. I spoke to a supervisor and got no where. We were really disappointed that they closed the account, we were charter members and stopped charging immediatly and tried to pay as much as we could as often as we could so I don't understand why they had to handle it this way.
