Where have all the coupons gone in the Sunday newspaper? I have always used coupons regularly but for the past month or two or local papers have had about half of the coupons they used to have. Have you noticed the same thing in your local area? Is it because of Internet coupons or grocery reward programs or is it because of the "Extreme Coupon" people who have figured out how to get free groceries? Maybe they will come back when summer is over.
Wow!! I was just thinking it was me, but I guess not because I have noticed the same thing also..the last Sunday issue of Smart Souce and Red Plum seem to have more ads than it did coupons..I am really beginning to depise the "Extreme Couponing" show because people seem to think that shelf emptying is the only way to shop in my town so my grocery stores are really beginning to tighten up on their acceptance of coupons and changing their policies. Please people..just stick to getting only five of each kind and not a 100..your not the only person out there that needs to buy that toothbrush or ketchup..
I hope it's temporary. I've noticed coupons have been bad lately too. I've been buying more store brand items. I need to start checking Target coupons again.
Ive noticed that too. Our local stores have changed their coupon policies plus ive noticed less in the paper. Everyone seems to want to be an extreme couponer now. I am all for saving money but there is a point when it is too extreme.
Our local paper used to carry the Smart Source coupons on Sunday. A couple of months ago, they stopped carrying them. After calling the newspaper office, we found out that it wasn't the newspaper's decision to stop carrying them. We were told that Smart Source no longer advertises with this particular newspaper. I hope that it doesn't have anything to do with extreme couponers in our area. I've found store shelves emptied of sale items and this is on a regular basis. My daughter was in our local CVS a week ago and was told by an employee that a woman was in the store earlier that day bragging about taking all the newspaper inserts from boxes on Sundays. She pays for one paper and steals all the inserts.
Fortunately for me, I have the paper delivered to my home, so I'm still able to get the Red Plum and Proctor and Gamble inserts. I hate that there are people out there that ruin it for everyone else that just tries to save a little money.
I think more and more companies are going away from them. Rather than pay for the space in the paper, they are going to things like "Like us on Facebook for a special coupon" or "text ---- for instant offers"
I guess from their perspective, it's more direct to their actual customers, but I don't like it.
I've actually noticed a drop off for the past year or so...
I'm no "extreme" couponer, but I used to regularly save 30% on my bill using store sales and coupons. Now... the coupons aren't there so I have to get even more creative with store sales and do my menu planning according to the sales fliers. (I used to shop to stock my pantry and then menu plan from the pantry supplies. Now, it doesn't save much doing it that way.)

Now that is just wrong!! And that is just down right stealing that should be a punishable crime..I would so call the cops on someone if I ever saw them doing that!!

If I had been a witness to this exchange between the employee and customer, I would have contacted the newspaper and told them. Better yet, I would have flat out told her she was stealing and I wouldn't care how much it embarassed her!
I've been couponing for about two months now. I am organized with a binder, but I'm not extreme by any means. I am enjoying the freebies I get. And I've gotten freebies in both the food and non food categories.
I have not noticed a decline in coupon quantity here. I get the Sunday paper and also get the coupons from my mom and grandma. Our grocery chains (Tops & Wegmans) will only allow you to double four like coupons per transaction, so there's no way I can go in and buy huge quantities of something like other store chains seen on Exteme Couponing will let you do. However, if I had eight coupons for something I really wanted to stock up on...I would just do two transactions to get what I needed.
You can always print coupons from the online sites. I was hesitant to do this at first, but I love it now. Target's coupons are the BEST, and they can be paired with a manufacturer coupon for maximum savings.
I think the show will cause some chains to change their policies and limit the quantities you can buy in a single transaction, like Tops and Wegmans already do. I personally don't have an issue with it. We're a two person household...I don't need forty jars of pasta sauce. I'm fine with the four that I have.

This is the sort of person who will ruin it for everyone. And, sadly...this isn't the first I've heard of this happening. When I buy my paper, I always check it first to make sure everything I need is there.
This woman will get caught eventually...she can't brag about something like that publically and expect to get away with it for too much longer.
