1/23. $198 groceries. Man this new diet is EXPENSIVE!!! Fresh, whole, non-processed foods are far more expensive than drive-thru. Hmmmm. No wonder we are over weight!

I estimate my grocery bill went up by anywhere from $40-60 from just trying to eat better.

Huh, that definitely isn't the case over here (I live in Germany ). I can cook a healthy meal (made from fresh ingredients) for $4-5 per person (some meals even less than that). At a fast food joint, a meal will set us back at least $8-$10 per person, so twice as much!

I use fresh fruits and veggies, bake our own bread, buy meat directly from a local farmer, make lots of sauces from scratch... That's what you mean by non-processed foods, right?

By the way, I convert my expenses from euros to dollars (current exchange rate is 1 euro = 1.30 dollars) - in case you're wondering.

Yep, that's what I mean by non-processed. Ultimately, I suppose PER SERVING, it isn't any more expensive and when you take into consideration the HEALTH COSTS of eating poorly vs healthy eating, it's actually less expensive. But here, we can get a drive thru meal for $5. They even have a dollar menu! Right now (winter), it's hard to find fresh fruit and veggies that are low cost. We do have a farm market down the street but the selection is sometimes limited now. We have started eating high nutrient dense foods (fruits and veggies) and omitting the processed flours, sugars and animal proteins. It is doing great for weight loss and DH's BP and blood sugar are getting better too!

Way to go on the $0 days!

My grocery bill also went up when we've started to eat better, but it will be worth it. We feel so much better!

We are eating out tonight and that will be around $40.

$30 at Target for a few things we need.
