| Can you make WDW vacation money surfing the net? I'm re-posting this question here, because I'm not getting much response in the "Off Topic" forum.
I know that some time ago, there was a pretty big discussion on the Passporter boards about using these programs to make extra $$ for trips. I can't seem to find those posts now, so I'm asking again!
Do any of you have exerience with any of these money-making internet programs? Do they work? Are they worth the time? Do you actually make money at them?
My business is AWFULLY slow this year; nobody is travelling and when nobody is travelling, they don't need a pet sitter! So I'm trying to figure out a way to bring in a little extra $$ to help pay for our November trip without going and getting a job.
It's not that I mind working, it's that if I have a job, then I'm not available if/when my clients DO need me! Something I could do from home with my computer would be perfect! [ 07-11-2002, 12:12 AM: Message edited by: Versafox ] |

| Re: Can you make WDW vacation money surfing the net? i have a little experience with some of the reward programs- i assume that's what you're talking about. i decided to sign up with a few to try to earn money or gift certificates that would help with our trip in sep. i signed up with mypoints, blink, milesource, and another- creative-something- i don't remember the name of that one. the only one i found i was making enough points to earn anything meaningful with was milesource. my husband just cashed in his points for a $50 gift certificate to rainforest cafe, and i just got a $25 one for old navy for new swimsuits for the kids for the trip. that took us about 3 or 4 months of clicking on sites for points. i put in about 10- 15 minutes a day (we have dsl, which helps), and my husband did the same but also bought a computer at work going through the milesource site which added a bunch of points at once. if you do much online shopping it might be a good way to get points- therefore rewards- at a good pace. i don't. but for 10 min. a day, i could click on links. i hope that helped some. if you have any further questions, let me know.- good luck! | Re: Can you make WDW vacation money surfing the net? I have been using Mypoints. Whenever I order anything off the net I check there first. I do have quite a few points and will be cashing them in for restaurant coupons. Takes a few min. a day and some extra searching for shopping. I use my skymiles credit card too just to earn milage for free tickets someday!

| Re: Can you make WDW vacation money surfing the net? I've been a member at MyPoints.com for years now, though only seriously racked in the points this past year. They have web certificates that can be exchanged for points too. That's what I trade my points in for, it's basically a credit card that's already paid for. I've used it to suppliment my pin collection. It's about 15,000 points for a $10 webcertificate. That's the closest you'll come to actual $$$.

| Re: Can you make WDW vacation money surfing the net? Hi!
I learned about these programs from this message board about 6 months ago. I joined both My points and Blink. I have had much more success with My Points and have steered away from Blink....it seems the bulk of those points are accumulated if you gamble on line and I also found it a little irritating as Blink seems to have a continuous stream of pop up windows for gambling web sights. Since I'm not a gambler and the point of this was to try to earn $ I have backed off of Blink.
I prefer My Points ( www.mypoints.com) and have accumulated enough points (just this past week) to earn 2 $10 food gift certificates. They offer alot of "Try it" point earing programs....usually no obligation or very small fee......but you have to remember to cancel within the specified time period if you do not want to incur the annual premiums to continue the service. This is where you have to be organized and diciplined enough to keep track of what you joined and the trial period end date.
To be quite honest, I don't think this is the best way to count on earning money. It is a little time consuming and I can't imagine that I earned more than a couple of pennys/hour when all is said and done. But, I don't want to discourage you either. Give it a try!
For me, I think we are going to have another yard sale in August. I held a yard sale about 5 years ago and earned a little over $300 in 2 days with "stuff" we didn't use anymore and was taking up alot of storage space in the house. So, I've accumlated more "stuff" and think it is time to try the yard sale again.
Take a look at the programs and see if they will work for you.
