| member transfer of points If we purchase points to transfer to our acct from another member, are they available for our home resort or the resort the points came from? I'm asking because I want the resv for a busy time of year and am hoping to take advantage of the 11 mo window. |

| I believe they would be available for the resort they are from for the 11 month booking window, not your home resort (unless they were the same.)

Thus, it's the resort the points came from, and not your resort, according to the POS.

| Just a heads-up that there is a long-standing glitch in DVC's computer system which actually goes counter to the written rules. Although the rules state that transferred points retain their original Use Year and Home resort, once points are transferred in the computer they actually inherit the UY and Home resort of the recipient owner. In other words, if an owner at OKW receives BWV points, they should remain BWV points. But, in DVC's computer they will actually show up as OKW points. I wouldn't recommend trying to use this rule to your advantage (i.e. renting any points and assuming they will end up matching your own Home) as DVC could fix the glitch at any time. You'd be rolling the dice on that move. But in the end if you want to use the points to book their actual Home at 11 months, you may need to be persistent with DVC. I've heard they have to perform some sort of manual override before you can use the points in the manner described in the rule above. Oh, and don't forget that you can only perform ONE transfer per year. Make sure you get all of the ponts you need from a single individual. |
