Has anyone asked their guide lately about the rumor of DVC at the Contemporary? We're in a position to add-on now, and I'd rather wait if the Contemporary Villas is going to become a reality.

I asked a DVC rep, who went on to become our guide, on our cruise in June, and not a word from him.

We've heard lots of rumors, one from the manager of the Concourse Steakhouse, but nothing confirmed yet.

In August when we took the Tour, our guide told us that he had been told nothing about the Contemporary being a DVC property. Our guide is also a DVC member, and said it would be a nice addition but that he had heard absolutely nothing except that there was construction at the Contemporary. I think Disney is playing it very close to the vest - maybe until SSR or AKV sells out?

When I took the tour in August, I did make a comment regarding a possible DVC at Contemporary and his comment back......we have not heard officially of anything regarding the Contemporary.
I do believe that until SSR and AKL are both sold out or very close to being sold out - there will be no "official" annoucement.

I talked to our guide a week ago and she said "We have been told nothing OFFICIAL yet about CR" she also said that they expect SSR to seel oout during the month of October, so who knows what may come next.
As I said this was just last week, so maybe we will be getting some announcement soon, hmmmmm.

That may have been a bit of an exaggeration. I know someone who has been following the resort's sales process via the Orange County real estate website. DVC needs to declare units into the timeshare inventory before they can be sold to guests. At last report, they had recently declared the top two floors of the 17th building. That means they are still working on selling #17 and have all of #18 remaining.

Historically it has taken DVC about 3 months to sell each building, but that was before AKV came along and they began selling two properties simultaneously. Word is they will also soon begin actively marketing 50-year contracts at Old Key West since the extension to 2057 is now complete.

I think we're looking at more of a February / March sellout. Although as we get closer and closer to the end, DVC will start running out of points with certain Use Years.

When I bought my points on the Med cruise - I was told that AKL and SSR would have to be completely sold out before CRV would be opened for sale -- IF CRV was a reality (with a wink...)

On our last trip in Aug. we were on the monorail with a member of the Dream Squad he told us the new building at the Contamporary is definately going to be DVC, however when I asked the guide at the booth at Downtown Disney he told me nothing was official.

This illustrates one of the problems I personally have with the CR situation. The new facility has never been confirmed by any official Disney source as being DVC. There were no press releases, no mentions in the cast newsletter, and I doubt Jay Rasulo or other big-wigs at WDW are walking around telling people that.

Thus far the evidence is entirely circumstantial. So what you have are Disney CMs hearing stories from one-another and reading the same rumors on the Internet, then repeating them to guests who (sometimes erroneously) assume that what they were told must be fact because it came from a Cast Member. That isn't always the case.

With the CR, I suspect it will prove to be a DVC facility. However the individual staffing the booth at DTD was correct--Disney has made no official statement to date, either to the general public or to Cast Members.

We ate at Chef Mickey and Concourse Steak House last week. We stopped by the DVC desk to trade pins and I said "We're members who would LOVE to add on if they build a DVC at the CR." He smiled and said a lot of people are waiting for that. I need to work on building up our savings for when they announce a CR DVC - I mean If they announce it. But I really hope so!!
