I know many people are saying that it is extremely hard to book a Grand Villa at OKW at the 7 month window, but alternately there are plenty of people saying they were able to book one when they tried. I want to know, who out there has tried to book an OKW Grand Villa at 7 mos. and wasn't able to get it? What time of year did you try for?

Since you haven't gotten any replies, I'll add some general comments.

The most difficult times to get a GV are likely to be:

• The entire period from Thanksgiving thru the New Year.
• Weeks surrounding any holidays (MLK, President's Day, Spring Break.)
• There may also be some spillover from the Food and Wine fest. The Epcot resorts are busiest during those dates in October and November, but the low cost of OKW GVs probably drive up demand there, too.
• The weeks before and after the WDW Marathon in January have also been popular in the past, but that may change since Disney is creating so many more marathon events throughout the year.

Those are some of the main periods when demand for DVC resorts is the highest. That means the slower periods would include:

• Early February
• Early March
• Late-April to mid-May
• Summer months are always a possibility since DVC members tend to avoid those high-crowd periods
• Late-August to September
• Early November

Since there are so few OKW grand villa and the points are so much lower than all other GVs, they will always fill up quick at 7 months. It's not impossible, but I wouldn't get your hopes up for any of the periods in my first list. For dates in the second list, be prepared to call day-by-day at 7 months. If there even are rooms available at 7 months, the count will almost certainly be in the single digits. And the available rooms will go to those who book the quickest.

We have never been able not to get one but even though it is not your question, we were able to book in early June and also early August. I have been told the "peak" tiems (of course the ones that require the most points) are the hardest to get. Good luck!
