problem buying BLT

We stayed at the BLT last week (we are not DVC members) and had a great time. We were thinking about buying into the BLT and went on a tour with a DVC guide at BLT. He seemed very nice and we were ready to sign a contract but then...he couldn't provide us with a contract (not even a sample one to look at!). He said we would have to trek over to Saratoga Springs or they could to send it to us at home. Since we were on vacation and wanted to spend as much time as we could with the kids in the park, we opted to have them send it to us. Now it's more than a week later and still no contract. The wierd part is that the guide took our credit card number and SS#. We've tried leaving messages for him on his cell but he hasn't returned our calls. We tried calling DVC again but they said that we should keep trying to contact the same guy. At this point, I'm so frustrated with the process that I'm thinking about not buying at all. Any suggestions?

DVC does not have a formal sales center at BLT. The sales center is at Saratoga Springs and everything has to go through there.

The contracts, deeds and other paperwork need to be uniquely prepared in your name. It normally takes about a week to prepare all of the documents, have them reviewed by Quality Assurance and shipped to your home. They are delivered by FedEx but I don't know if they use 2-day service or just normal ground shipping. That will add to the delivery time. A delivery time of 7-10 calendar days is pretty typical, but it could always be longer if they are backlogged.

DVC is a 7-day / week operation so DVC salespeople have staggered days off. You may simply be catching him on an off day, vacation period or even a week when he is cruising on one of the DCL voyages. (DVC has a presence on every sailing and Guides take turns making the trip.)

DVC is a timeshare and timeshares are a very well-regulated industry. Disney is very methodical in how they approach things so that they remain compliant with federal and local laws.

Give it until 2 weeks from when you met with the salesman. If you still don't have the paperwork, start making phone calls.

to the boards! And, as tjkraz, explained, give it some time. The contracts are a lot of paperwork and take some time to put together. Hopefully, your rep is just out of the office and will be returning your calls soon. all the anticipation pays off!

Welcome to the boards!!

I seem to remember that when the DW and I purchased an addon it took around 2 weeks+ to get the paperwork for us to sign. Dont give up just yet

As Tim stated, DVC works 7days/week and therefore they have wierd schedules. Hopefully you just got your guide on one of the off days.

I received my paperwork within a week from signing up. I did not get a contract on the spot. All I received was a receipt for my downpayment.

I agree, your contracts will arrive soon. I am sure that Disney is not going to forget about a potential customer.

Thanks for the info! It does make me feel better. We bought into Marriott a couple years ago and it seemed to go faster but then again, they had everything on site.

Can't wait to start using those points!

Thanks for all the support. It actually turned out fine. They sent me the huge book full of info (with the contract) and I just sent it back out. It's nice that they let me make reservations for our next trip to Disney (Presiden't weekend at Boardwalk Villas) while the contract is still open!

Counting down the days again beofre our next trip....

when going thru DVC vs a resaler - you can make the reservation as soon as your deposit goes thru.
