wi-fi

I'm sure this has been talked about before. However, we leave in 4 days and my husband and I are taking grad classes currently and we both have to submit stuff for school on-line when we are in WDW. Do DVC members get free wi-fi in the rooms or do we have to pay for it?

Members get free WIRED Internet service.

Wi-Fi is only available sparingly at Walt Disney World, and you always have to pay for it. Even when staying at DVC resorts where the wired service is available.

If you have time, I'd suggest investing $50 on buying your own portable wireless access point. You can plug that into the wired port in your DVC room and it will give you free wireless.

If you decide not to do that, you will have to take turns sharing the Internet cable.

We took a wireless router to BWV and used it there with the free broadband. Worked fine. You do have to turn on your broadband via a web browser as if you are paying for it--just like at the non-DVC resorts, but you don't get charged if you are staying DVC.

We've used the free wired service a number of times and have never had a problem with it. If you can, I'd personally share that facility.

We have a router in our Owners Locker so we get "free Wi-Fi" (secured of course).

Just be warned that there is a cable in the room but it is only 10', and the port is located in the bedroom. So if you want to work in another room bring a long cord with you.
