Please tell me about discounted cash rate for DVC members...

Hi all!

I have just figured out we will not have enough points come early Feb 2010 to book our stay for Jan 2011 (well, only enough for one night).

I know there is sometimes a discounted cash rate for DVC members....

Can anyone give me more info on this please? Is there usually a percentage etc.? How does it work?

Thanks!
Lori

are you a disney visa card holder?? Sometimes they hold room rates. I would hope, maybe make the room rate day 1. Then you only move once and you won't have to pack up twice at the end of the trip to remind you of going home

Do you have an AP? If you do, and there are AP rates available, you might want to check into that.

So if a room was available at rack rate and you wanted to stay extra nights after using all your points, would you have to change rooms?

When we did this in 2006, we were able to stay in the same room. However, it will depend on what's available. Obviously if you're paying cash for a studio and staying in a one-bedroom on points, then you will have to move rooms.

hmmm....I will definitely have to work with you guys as it gets closer...

(It's very confusing because I have to book for this trip early FEB, but I will also be modifying our 2 legged trip in Sept/Oct, and maybe some points will be credited back.)

I now have a Disney Debit card and we will be AP holders (but won't be at time of booking)

The 25% off would still be very expensive for us I think. So, I was thinking we could use the 20 points we will have for one night at BLT and then just try to book something using cash hopefully with a discount. (even if it's ASMovies which we would be totally fine with) for the other 4 nights. And then if we do get credits back, try to book something with points. The only thing is, we need to stay at BLT the night before the half-marathon (Friday) but we would be arriving on Wednesday...so that means we would have to stay someplace for two nights, switch to BLT for one and then back for 2 nights (if we can't use the credited back points for BLT)...

WHEW! See what I mean? LOL....I was driving myself crazy yesterday with this!

Any other ideas etc.? I might have to start yet another PTR for this trip as it's going to be VERY involved and I will need lots of help since this is our first DCL as well.

Any more help is GREATLY appreciated!!! Thanks everyone!

Lori
