| I think it depends how many days you're looking for and if you can be flexible - for example, if a studio was available that wasn't a value one, would you take it? The more flexible you can be, the better.

| I agree you may have to be flexible. One maybe at Kidani the other Jambo, or on the other ends away from eachother. Kidani is HUGE! I think you have better luck there than BLT.

| I agree flexibility is a factor. I am planning a family trip next Xmas that includes my parents, three sons who'll be 18, 16 and 11 as well as DH and I. I think we may all have a more enjoyable time if we're spread out a little bit rather than in one two bedroom villa at SSR. AKL values are so "cheap" in terms of points that they would be a good option but I can't book them until the 7 month window. I like the Treehouses but they don't "appeal" to my mother - LOL! I wish the SSR villas had the sleeping chair like Kidani or BLT. That would make life a bit easier. I will book a Treehouse in Jan and then try to switch in May....in the meantime, maybe DM will change her mind!

| there are very, very few value rooms - they are all at Jambo House. now standard rooms are at both Jambo House and Kidani. for a 2-bedroom would go with Kidani - you just get so much more room. the studio is about the same in both places. a standard studio is a pool view at Jambo house - at Kidani - it might be parking lot, garden or water. so would ask for value - definitely get on the wait list - but if you can make the reservation for standard (that is if no value for your dates) do it!

| "Value" speaks more to the quality of the accommodations while "Standard" is a view designation. Value rooms are the smallest accommodations DVC has to offer. About 1/4 of the rooms at AKV are located on the 5th floor of Jambo House. Jambo House is the original "Animal Kingdom Lodge." The rooms on the 5th floor were originally traditional hotel rooms but DVC converted them to villas in 2007. Since they were converting existing rooms rather than building from scratch, some concessions had to be made. Many of the rooms at Jambo have unique layouts. Some rooms have large wardrobes instead of closets (again due to original construction.) The Value rooms were smaller than most Deluxe resort rooms--more like a Moderate. The One and Two Bedroom villas do not have the fold out sleeper chair in the living room since there is just no space for it. Studios have a very compact layout with the bed, nightstand and sofabed barely able to fit along the wall. I wouldn't recommend staying in a Value Studio with more than 2 people--maybe 3 if the third is a small child. One and Two Bedroom villas could probably hold 4/8 people, but they won't be nearly as spacious as their larger counterparts. So "Value" = Smaller in AKV terms. Value rooms can be found ONLY at Jambo House. They could actually have a view of either the savanna, Jambo pool or the parking lot. There is no guarantee of a particular view--it's just luck of the draw. Only about 40% of the Value rooms have a savanna view. If everyone booked in Value is hoping for the savanna view (why wouldn't they?), more than half will be disappointed. "Standard" = Non-Savanna view view. Standard rooms are the larger accommodations which have the sleeper chair. Standard rooms are available at both Jambo and Kidani. At Jambo the Standard View rooms overlook the pool. At Kidani they could overlook the pool or a parking lot. |

| I agree with the last poster. We stayed in a value AKL studio about 18 months ago. We did have a savannah view, but it was VERY cramped! I think the space issues come from the fact that at Jambo house, they took the existing hotel room space and converted it into villas. That left them with some odd spaces, which they turned into value accomodations. Yes, the points are cheap, but if you're going to spend much time in the room, you'll definitely notice the lack of space.
