Does anyone know....(AKV question)

I know there are only 5 2BR Club level rooms at Jambo House..

Does anyone know how many non-club Savannah View 2BRs there are at Jambo House? Also Kidani Village?

And secondly, what do you guys think my chances are of booking a SV 2BR for the last week in Sept at our 7 month mark?

Thanks!

here is Jambo House (from Lisa S - dis)
28 Value rooms (8 savanna view, 20 standard view)
- 23 Standard View rooms (all have a standard view)
- 155 Savanna View rooms (all have a savanna view)
- 10 Concierge rooms (6 savanna view, 4 standard view)

So in terms of booking category, there are 155 Savanna View rooms and 61 other rooms (28 Value, 23 Standard View, 10 Concierge).

She thinks that 80% are Savannah views at Kidani - but she does not have the figures.

I would guess 70% at Kidani are savannah views- and 30 or even 40% standard views - just because they are on the outside of the building facing the parking lot.

there are only a few dedicated studios - so yea the majority are 2-bedrooms.

Disney does their figures in 2-bedrooms.

yes!! When I made my last dvc request. She said you know you could go a few more days and do value. I stated I wanted savanna view no matter what. The CM said they book so many and 80% are savanna view. Most times people get upgraded. (from what the CM said) She said you can always request a savanna view, and see what the dice rolls, or see if their is something available the next morning, ect. Way i see it, same as a cruise don't be upset if you didn't get an upgrade because you are getting what you booked.

yes 30% are savannah views, 30% are swimming pools views, 30% are parking lot.

if you get a dedicated studio then it will be a swimming pool or savannah views.

the parking lots views are locks off (they are 2-bedrooms)

think it is savannah - but just not sure.

it is not parking lot.

when I have done the value - twice - got the swimming pool view - which is just fine with me.

It is closer to the lobby, restuarants, bus stop than the savannah views

You can search for info about AKV rooms here:

DVCNews.com - The essential Vacation Club resource! - Animal Kingdom Villas RoomFinder

All of the Jambo rooms are present in the database. Select Jambo and whatever other criteria you wish, and it will display a list of all matching rooms.

According to a search I just did there are 28 Studio and One Bedroom villas in the Value category. (A Studio + 1B combined = Two Bedroom.)

Of those, 12 have a savanna view, 12 are pool view and 4 are parking lot view. That makes it:

42% Savanna
42% Pool
16% Parking lot

I don't think the bold part of the above statement is very good advice. As I said, only about 40% of the Value rooms are Savanna view. And I suspect most people booking Value will request the Savanna view, so about 60% are likely to be disappointed.

Upgrades were (are?) common in the AKV cash rooms but not DVC. DVC only upgrades people if they have maintenance issues which unexpectedly take rooms out of service. They'll let a Savanna class room sit empty before they upgrade someone from a Value reservation.

But I do agree with the last part of the quote: assume the worst and hope for the best. When you book a Value, you may well get that pool or parking lot view. Be prepared for it because all 28 of those parties booking value are probably hoping for a Savanna view and only 12 will get it. Nothing DVC can do to fix that.

I can totally see booking value to use less points, putting in a request for a particular view, but really not being upset about not getting it becusae we are indeed using less points. Plus how often are you in your room to let it bother you that much!

We stayed in BLT and booke a MK view, high floor, that is exactly what we got, highest floor for 2 bedrooms. For our standard studio we requested partial park view and that is what we got. I do believe they take your requests and try to do as much as they can for you, without it being considered an upgrade.
